        A Study on the Change in the Results of the Straight Leg Raising Test according to the Intensity of Microwave Diathermy

        Purpose: Although microwave diathermy is widely employed, research conducted in South Korea indicates a lack of theoretical under- standing concerning the appropriate application intensity. Consequently, there is a need to enhance the objectivity of microwave dia- thermy by conducting quantitative studies to determine its effective application intensity and provide suitable application parameters. Methods: The study was performed on 60 participants, divided equally into 40W or 80W microwave diathermy intervention groups. Mi- crowave diathermy was applied at 2,450MHz to iliocostalis and longissimus muscles for 15 minutes in each group. Ranges of motion were compared before and after intervention using straight leg raise (SLR) test results. The analysis was performed using the paired t-test and the independent t-test. Results: SLR angles increased significantly in both groups after intervention, but the 80W group exhibited a greater post-intervention angle increase. While no significant intergroup difference was observed between pre-intervention angles, post-intervention angles were significantly different. Conclusion: The study confirms that microwave diathermy treatment at 40W for 15 minutes effectively increases SLR angles but that treatment at 80W has a greater effect. Further research is warranted to establish quantitatively the optimal time and intensity settings for microwave diathermy.

        로지스틱 회귀분석에 의한 도시부 신호교차로 유턴 사고모형 개발

        본 연구의 목적은 도시부 신호교차로에서의 유턴 사고모형을 개발하는 것이다. 창원시 3지, 4지 신호교차로의 유턴 교통사고 자료에 대한 특성을 분석하고 로지스틱 회귀분석에 의해 사고예측모형을 추정하였다. 먼저 유턴 운영에 의한 교통사고 발생에 차이가 있는지를 검정하기 위해 맨-위트니 U검정으로 평균차이를 검정하였다. 분석 결과 4지 신호교차로의 사고유형별 구분에 있어서는 추돌사고를 제외한 유형에서, 사고위치별에 있어서는 유출부 사고가 유턴구역이 설치된 집단의 사고발생건수가 더 많은 것으로 분석되었다. 교통사고건수에 대한 반응척도를 이항으로 분류하고 사고예측모형을 추정한 결과 상충교통량, 대향차로수와 같은 독립변수가 공통적인 영향요인으로 분석되었으며, 3지 신호교차로에서는 종단 경사, 4지 신호교차로에서는 횡단보도수가 공통영향 이외에 특정변수로 도출되었다. 도시부 신호교차로에서 유턴 운영을 위해서는 유턴 구역 대향차로수가 사고무발생 교차로의 평균차로수인 3.5개 차로 이상이며, 접근부의 종단선형이 상향경사일 경우에 설치를 고려할 수 있을 것으로 제안된다. 또한 유턴 차량의 많은 부분이 횡단보도 시간을 이용하여 회전하는 점을 고려하여 유턴 시기에 대한 지시표지를 설치할 필요가 있다. The purpose of this study is to develop the U-turn accident model at signalized intersections in urban areas. The characteristics of the accidents which are associated with U-turn operation at 3 and 4-legged signalized intersections was analyzed and the U-turn accident model was developed by regression analysis in Changwon city. First, in order to analyze the effectiveness on traffic accidents by U-turn installation, the difference of mean of traffic accident number are measured between two groups which are composed by whether or not U-turn installation the groups by Mann-Whitney U test. The result of significance test showed that intergroup comparison on mean by accident types made difference except rear-end accident type and by accident locations exit section only showed difference in significance level at 4-legged intersections, so the accident number have more where the U-turn is permitted than not. Response measures about the number of accidents were classified by whether accidents occurred and accident model were constructed using binomial logistic regression analysis method. The developed models show that the variables of conflict traffic, number of opposing lane are adopted as independent variable for both intersections. The variables of longitudinal grade for 3-legged signalized intersection and number of crosswalk for 4-legged signalized intersection at which the U-turn is permitted is adopted as independent variable only. These study results suggest that U-turn would be permitted at the intersection where the number of opposing lane is more than 3.5 each, the longitudinal grade of opposing road is upward flow and there is need to establish the U-turn traffic sign at signalized intersections.

        Damp Heat Stability of ZnO:Ga Thin Films on Glass Substrate

        We investigated the damp heat stability of Ga-doped ZnO (GZO) thin films grown on glass substrates. GZO thin films with thicknesses of 150 nm were grown on glass substrates by rfmagnetron sputtering. After the deposition, a damp heat stability test was performed at various temperature (50 ~ 65 ℃) and relative humidities (80 ~ 90%) for up to 240 hr. With increasing temperature and humidity, the sheet resistance of the GZO thin films increased to a maximum of 14.2% at 65 ℃/90% RH. The changes of surface morphology caused by damp heat were drastic and were comparable to the degradation caused by high temperature only. The effect of damp heat is discussed based on the electrical and the structural characterizations.

        Effect of Elastic Aids (Bands) on Functional Reach Test in Patients with Spinal Cord Injury: Pilot Study

        Purpose: This study aimed: to confirm the balance ability of patients with spinal cord injury in the sitting state through a functional reach test using an elastic aid; and to propose a balance improvement plan. Methods: The study evaluated seven patients with spinal cord injury who could maintain a sitting posture through minimum assistance. A functional reach test was performed before and after wearing an elastic aid while sitting on a chair, and the effects before and after use of the elastic aid were compared and analyzed through a motion analyzer. Results: In the functional reach test, the forward movement distance of the hand was 97.45 mm before wearing the elastic aid, but significantly increased to 131 mm after wearing the aid (p<0.05). Corresponding forward movement distances for the shoulder were 81.26 mm and 113 mm (p<0.05 for the increase). There was no statistically significant change in lateral functional arm extension. Conclusion: It was confirmed, through a functional reach test, that trunk stability in patients with spinal cord injury increased with use of an elastic aid. In future, more efficient rehabilitation treatment programs will be possible if trunk stability in patients with spinal cord injury is improved by using elastic aids, and if various exercise treatments are also included in the rehabilitation programs.

        기하학 해석을 통한 역운동학 모듈의 효과적인 구현

        본 연구에서는 수학적 지식이 요구되는 기존의 역운동학 해법을 사용하지 않고 직관력이 높은 기하학 방식의 새로운 역운동학 해법을 제시하였다. 뼈대 2개로 구성된 역운동학 모듈은 뼈대가 꺾이는 방향의 3차원 벡터만을 제공하여 수학적 지식이 없이도 역운동학의 사용이 가능했다. 본 연구에서 제시한 방법은 수학적 지식이 요구되지 않기 때문에 좀더 많은 그래픽 디자이너들이 역운동학을 쉽게 사용할 수 있을 것이다. In this paper, we have proposed a new geometric solution of inverse kinematics of high instinct, while traditional solutions of inverse kinematics requires high level of mathematical knowledge. It was possible to use the inverse kinematics without mathematical knowledge because 3D vectors of directions of folded bones could be calculated by our method in the inverse kinematic model of two bones. The proposed method can be utilized easily by graphic designers who have little knowledge of mathematics of inverse kinematics

      • 근육에 대한 역학적 스트레스의 영향

        Purpose : Mechanical stress activates signaling cascades and leading to a specific response of a network of signaling pathways. The purpose of this study is to review the effect of mechanical stress-induced adaptation in skeletal muscle involves a biological mechanisms. Methods : This is literature study with Pubmed, Medline and books. Results : Skeletal muscle tissue demonstrates a malleability and may adjust its metabilic response, vascularization and neuromuscular characteristic makeup in response to alteration in functional demands. The adaptation in skeletal muscle involoves a multitude of signalling mechanisms related with insuline-like growth factor, vascular endothelial growth factor, neurotrophins. Conclusions : The identification of the basic relationships underlying the malleability of skeletal muscle tissue is likely to be of relevance for our understanding with PNF technique.
