고속도로를 포함한 다차로 간선도로에는 일반적으로 교통량이 많고 차량의 주행속도가 높기 때문에 양방향으로 주행하는 차량을 일정거리 이상 이격시키거나 시설물을 설치하여 분리함으로써 주행안전성을 높일 수 있다. 최근 5년간 고속도로에서 중앙분리대와 관련된 교통사고 현황에 대한 조사를 통해 현재 설치된 중앙분리대 시설은 중앙선 침범사고룰 방지하는 데에 있어서 다소 부족함을 나타내고 있으며, 차량 충돌시 차 광망 파편이 비산되어 2차사고를 유발할 수 있는 위험성이 있다는 것을 알 수 있었으며, 이를 통해 고속도로 중앙분리대 시설의 개선이 필요하다는 결론을 내리게 되었다. 개선 방호벽을 설치했을 때 예상되는 정지시거의 감소효과와 교통용량에 미치는 영향을 검토해보았으며. 승용차와 트럭을 대상으로 모의충돌해석 프로그램인 팡크래쉬(PAM-CRASH)를 이용하여 차량충돌시 방호 성능을 검증해보았다. 증앙고속도로와 영동고속도로 일부 구간을 대상으로 개선 방호벽을 시험시공하여 시공성도 확인하였다. 개선 방호벽은 현 시설에 비해 교통안전성을 개선할 수 있고, 시공 및 유지관리에 소요되는 비용을 절감할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. On multi-lane arterials including freeways, traffic volume and speed are high, and traffic safety could be improved by separating with or without barrier both directional traffic. With a research for traffic accident related median for recent 5 years, it is determined that present median barrier system is not fully capable of preventing traffic accident crossing median and glare screen shows some risk for its fragility. Therefore, with the recognition of such problems it is determined median barrier system should be improved. Possible effects are also analyzed and vehicle behavior simulated with PAM-CRASH(Computer Simulation Program). Test installation has been performed on Chung-ang Freeway and Yung-dong Freeway. Improved traffic safety and reduced cost for construction and maintenance are expected with improved type of barrier.

In order to observe the early histopathological changes in the experimental model of degenerative arthritis, 50 immature rabbits weighing from 400 to 500gm and 50 mature rabbits weighing from 1000 to 2000 gm were used to make unstable knees. In the control group, a sham operation (arthrotomy only) was performed in each 10 of immature and mature rabbits. In the group I, each 20 of immature and mature rabbits had section of medial collateral ligament and anterior cruciate ligament. In the group Ⅱ, each 20 of immature and mature rabbits had section of medial collateral ligament and anterior cruciate ligament with excision of medial meniscus. The immature and mature rabbits were killed after 2, 4, 8, 12, and 16 weeks. Histopathological changes were examined in the articular cartilage of the tibia, femur and patella. The results obtained are as follows : 1. In the grmp I (section of medial collateral and anterior cruciate ligament) and the group Ⅱ (section of medial collateral and anterior cruciate ligament with excision of medial meniscus) of immature and mature rabbits, histopsthological change in the articular cartilage of the knee joint were more distinct in the medial tibia1 condyle than in the femur and lateral tibial condyle, and minimal in the patella. 2. In the group I and Ⅱ of immature and mature rabbits, histopathological changes of degenerative arthritis such as disarray of arrangement of chondrocyte, cloning, surface in egularity, erosion, fibrillation, splitting and capillary penetration of the calcified cartilage were observed, while no osteophyte formation was observed. 3. In the group Ⅱ, degenerative change in the articular cartilage of both immature and mature rabbits were observed earlier and more remarkable than those in the group I. 4. In the immature rabbits, degenerative changes in the articular caritilage were observed earlier and more remarkable than those in the mature rabbits. 5. In the immature rabbits, histopathological changes in the experimental model of degenerative arthritis resulted from knee instability by section of ligament or combined with excision of meniscus were similiar to those in the mature rabbits.
