Vol.30 No.2a

In this paper, we present an improved channel estimation method for orthogonal frequency division multipexing systems using pilot symbol assisted modulation(PSAM). Conventional linear minimum mean square error(LMMSE) channel estimation method uses only pilot symbols for channel estimation. So, as the fading channel varies rapidly, the system performance is degraded. The basic idea of the proposed scheme is that we firstly estimate channel coefficients at the middle point between two pilot symbols and then compute the channel attenuation by using LMMSE method. Superior performance achieved with the proposed method is illustrated by simulation experiments with the Doppler frequency of 36Hz and 185Hz in comparison with conventional LMMSE channel estimator.

Vol.24 No.1

『Classified Assemblage of Medical Prescriptions(醫方類聚) is a valuable material which can explain about historical records of East Asian medicine till 15th century. We can also konw what were regarded as important idea by contemporary doctors of Korean in ‘Chosun’ dynasty. And, Epilepsy is the one of the olddest diseases with a humankind history for a long time. All the concetps of disease including epilepsy in East Asia has been developed and specialized. So, we can find out some valuable facts from Epilepsy section Jin Classified Assemblage of Medical Prescriptions』. First, ‘Epilepsy’ was mixed with ‘Mad’, ‘Spasm’ before 7th century but after than, it had been divided into in detail. Since 14th century, we can find out that it was separated with ‘Spasm’ completely. In conclusion, ‘Epilepsy’ concept in 『Classified Assemblage of Medical Prescriptions』 at 15th century is similar with mordern ‘Epilepsy’ concept. Second, We can find out that ‘Epilepsy disease’ was divided into ‘Five epilepsy’ before 7th century, and divided into ‘external cause’, ‘internal cause’, ‘external & internal cause’ in 12th century. And, it also was divided into ‘yin’ or ‘yang’ epilepsy. So, ‘Epilepsy’ concept in 『Classified Assemblage of Medical Prescriptions』 at 15th century can be divided into ‘yin’ or ‘yang’ generally, and also it is similar with ‘Acute and slow shock’. Especially, ‘yinyang’ of epilepsy is related to organs & bouls, depth & shallow, interior & exterior, not cold & heat definitely. From now on, the researches about how it had been understood in East Asia can help to find out modern significance of Korean medicine. and, it would be helpful for comprehensive study about 『Classified Assemblage of Medical Prescriptions』 from these researches in each section.

Vol.13 No.2

Wonkwang University’s Oriental Medicine College’s Department of Medical History has added great variety to its course since 2009. First, Chinese medical history is taught during the first semester, and Korean medical history is taught during the second semester, extending the Korean medical history class. Second, we have strengthened the Korean medical history course by delivering research results from the past 10 years. Third, we have emphasized looking back on oneself and having critical consciousness as a major objective throughout the course. Fourth, we have challenged students to get rid of their preconceptions and not form a unilateral view of history. Fifth, we have discovered some texts from medical history, which can solve urgent problems in Oriental medicine, and can help develop responsibility and leadership in physicians. We have devoted more lecture time to this, and we have rejected teaching ideas based on theoretical history and medical books, which took up too much time before. Sixth, we have given a high percentage of the grades to team projects and self-directed study. Finally, we have de-emphasized memorization and have added questions to test critical thinking, a more important quality, in the final exam. Fortunately, through the survey conducted in December 2010, we could see that there was a difference between the 2008 and 2009 medical history courses, and a correspondingly higher satisfaction level for the students, which means the changes were positive.

Vol.14 No.1

The 85 books were compiled into 『Hyangyakjipseongbang(鄕藥集成方)』at the period of the king Sejong(世宗). That books were assembled in the late stage of the Korea dynasty(高麗) and the first stage of the Chosun dynasty(朝鮮). It is a great work on medicine and a textbook of native herbs representating independent medicine of the dynasty of Chosun. The original text was written in technical chinese character terms and this was processed with a newly developed text cognizance program which helped decrease the time and energy needed and increase accuracy. we hope that the ground work and experience gained from this process would be analyzed and used for future in computerized information management for medical classic literature.

Vol.16 No.1

In researches done previously, the characteristics of the Hyangyak medicine in the early period of Chosun shown in 「HyangyakBoncho(鄕藥本草)」 in Vol. 76-85 of 「Hyangyakjipseongbang(鄕藥集成方)」 and 「Sanghan section(傷寒門)」 in Vol. 5-8 of 「Hyangyakjipseongbang(鄕藥集成方)」 was investigated. 「Cough section(咳嗽門)」 in 「Various Diseases volume」 of 『Dongeuibogam(東醫寶鑑ㆍ雜病篇)』 Vol. 5 and 「Various Coughs section(諸咳門) of 『Hyangyakjipseongbang(鄕藥集成方)』 Vol 24-25 which is a paragraph related to 「Sanghan section(傷寒門)」 was compared. The variety of the Hyangyak, processing methods and forms of the Hyangyak were shown by comparing each oriental medical botany(本草) used for treating cough(咳嗽) in 『Dongeuibogam(東醫寶鑑)』. Subsequently, the difference between each structure and medical theory was speculated. The facts revealed in this research is as follows. First, [Various Coughs section(諸咳門)] of 『Hyangyakjipseongbang(鄕藥集成方)』 uses only the Hyangyak, and no foreign medicines were used for treating cough (咳嗽) in 『Dongeuibogam(東醫寶鑑)』. Second, in [Various Coughs section(諸咳門)] of 『Hyangyakjipseongbang(鄕藥集成方)』, medicines related to diet and medicines taken raw were widely used, and various forms of medicine such as extracts, plasters, and gruels were used. Third, like other medical books in earlier periods, [Various Coughs section(諸咳門)] of 『Hyangyakjipseongbang(鄕藥集成方)』 describes the medical theory with conciseness, and keeps the structure of symptom classification focused on treatment and prescription. Fourth, as [Hyangyakboncho(鄕藥本草)] extensively uses the knowledge of oriental medical botany(本草) from two of Four Masters of GeumWon(金ㆍ元); JangWonSo(張元素) and LeeDongWon(李東垣), 「Various Coughs section(諸咳門)」 of 『Hyangyakjipseongbang(鄕藥集成方)』 quotes the books of JuDanGae but does not adopt the theory and prescriptions of ‘replenishing yin and downbearing fire (滋陰降火)’. To find a more descriptive picture of the Hyangyak medicine for the treatment of ‘cough(咳嗽)’, a comparatitive study between the books written in the same period -『Euibangyuchui(醫方類聚)』 and books compilated in China should be done, and there should be more profound researches done on individual medicines and prescriptions.

Vol.15 No.2

Through the study, these are found out about 「Hyangyakboncho(Korean herb)」 and Sanghanmun of 『Hayangyakjibsungbang』. First of all, 「Hyangyakboncho(Korean herb)」 is a Korean hreb book that contains only the herbs that were produced or cultivated in Korea. Secondly, 「Hyangyakboncho(Korean herb)」 is a practical herb book which widened its use in Korea. Third, 「Hyangyakboncho(Korean herb)」 is a practical herb book that was convinient for people. Fourth, 「Hyangyakboncho(Korean herb)」 is a brand new herb book that gathered all the knowledge about herb in Korea and abroad. Fifth, 「Hyangyakboncho(Korean herb)」 is a brand new herb book that contains all about processing method.
