The olfactory organ of Carassius auratus and C. cuvieri was compared morphologically and morphometrically using stereomicroscopy and statistical program (SPSS version 18.0). The external morphology of the olfactory organ consists of the open semicircular anterior and posterior nostril, and nasal flap. The internal structure showed the oval rosette consisting of several lamellae arranged radiately. In statistical analysis of standard length (SL), olfactory lamellar number (LN), and SL/LN ratio between two species using independent two sample t-test and Pearson’s correlation and coefficient, C. cuvieri is the longer SL than that of C. auratus and C. auratus LN (14~20) is lager thanthat of C. cuvieri (14~16) (P<0.001) and C. auratus LN/SL ratio (12.7±0.7%) is larger than that of C. cuvieri (8.2±0.6%). These results suggest that i) open semicircular nostrils is functional morphology to offset the boundary layer and ii) the lager LN of smaller C. auratus may be a morphological adaptation to reflect its higher olfactory dependence than C. cuvieri and iii) such interspecific difference in LN and LN/SL ratio could be applied as a new taxonomic trait for identification.

Purpose: Despite of dysmorphic change of penis and critical genital infection, self-injection of unsafe filler such as paraffin is still performed for penile augmentation. We evaluated surgical outcome and patients' satisfaction of penile paraffinoma removal. Materials & Methods: From January 1999 to December 2004, a total of 37 patients underwent penoplasty after removal of penile paraffinoma for complications. Penoplasty was performed using primary repair in localized penile paraffinoma (primary repair group, n=17) and bilateral scrotal flap in extensive cases (bilateral scrotal flap group, n=20). The surgical outcome, change of penile length and patients’ satisfaction was assessed, retrospectively. Results: The early postoperative complications were wound infection (1 in primary repair group, 3 in bilateral scrotal flap group), wound dehiscence (1 in primary repair group) and skin necrosis (2 in bilateral scrotal flap group). Stretched penile length after paraffinoma removal was not statistically different in both groups. Patients' satisfaction about penile shortening, decreased penile circumference and decrease of sexual satisfaction were not statistically different in both groups. In long term follow-up, inflammatory skin discharge (3 in primary repair group) and erectile dysfunction (1 in bilateral scrotal flap group) were identified. Conclusions: In localized paraffinoma, complete removal of paraffinoma is crucial to prevent long term complications. In extensive penile paraffinoma, bilateral scrotal flap is a proper procedure with lower complications and not to interfere with patients' satisfaction in long term overview.

Purpose: To establish criteria for the safe reduction of unnecessary biopsies, we compared transrectal ultrasonography (TRUS) findings, serum prostate-specific antigen (PSA), and PSA density (PSAD) in the decision criteria for the TRUS guided prostate biopsy (TRUS-Bx). Materials & Methods: A total of 914 patients underwent TRUS-Bx due to elevated PSA and/or focal nodules on the TRUS. The patients were divided into the prostate cancer (n=286, 31.3%) and the non-prostate cancer groups (n=628, 68.7%). The sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of TRUS, PSA, and PSAD were retrospectively evaluated, and the single criterion or the combinations of the criteria which can safely reduce the unnecessary biopsies without missing prostate cancer were investigated. Results: The sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of TRUS, PSA (cut-off value, 4ng/ml) and PSAD (cut-off level, 0.20ng/ml/cc) were 75.9%/78.3%/53.8%, 33.0%/52.5%/73.7%, and 34.0%/42.9%/48.3%, respectively. At the cut-off level of PSAD (0.20 ng/ml/cc), 65.1% of unnecessary biopsies were spared but 132 cases (22.2%) of prostate cancer were detected. However a focal nodule was detected on TRUS in 120 cases (90.9%) and the remaining 12 cases (9.1%) had PSA above 10ng/ml. By the combinations of criteria (PSAD, TRUS and PSA), 27.7% of unnecessary biopsies were spared without missing cancer. Conclusions: A short-interval follow-up seems to substitute for the prostate biopsy if PSAD is below 0.20ng/ml/cc without nodular lesions on TRUS and PSA value is below 10ng/ml.
An Analysis of Local Quantity of Carbon Absorption, Fixation and Emission by Using GIS

Due to increasing greenhouse gas emissions, global warming and abnormal weather phenomena it has become important on a national level to keep a count of greenhouse gases being emitted. We want to take advantage of any selected area, as the basic data for the calculation of greenhouse gas emissions, Forest and Grassland, Paddy fields, and Fields(crops), Greenhouse(crops), Pig farm, Cattle farm, Farm household(populations, agricultural machinery) and Vehicle, the basic building blocks shots with a small amount of per-unit basis, the statistics calculated based on regional carbon emissions through the literature and experimental. Carbon absorption 772,960 ton C/year, amount of fixation 487,477 ton C/year, amount of emission 1,112,607 ton C/year were noted in Gimje-si, and amount of carbon absorption 55,559 ton C/year, amount of fixation 25,864 ton C/year, amount of emissions 58,355 ton C/year in Gongdeok-myeon, respectively. The carbon absorption at Hwangsan-ri is 25,107 ton C/year, fixation 4,301 ton C/year, and emission 20,330 ton C/year respectively. We were able to estimate the amount of carbon according to the specific characteristics of each unit village, then expanding it to a large-scale and comparative analysis, therefore we were able to obtain basic data on the national levels of carbon absorption.
FUZZY REGRESSION TOWARDS A GENERAL INSURANCE APPLICATION

In many non-life insurance applications past data are given in a form known as the run-off triangle. Smoothing such data using parametric crisp regression models has long served as the basis of estimating future claim amounts and the reserves set aside to protect the insurer from future losses. In this article a fuzzy counterpart of the Hoerl curve, a well-known claim reserving regression model, is proposed to analyze the past claim data and to determine the reserves. The fuzzy Hoerl curve is more flexible and general than the one considered in the previous fuzzy literature in that it includes a categorical variable with multiple explanatory variables, which requires the development of the fuzzy analysis of covariance, or fuzzy ANCOVA. Using an actual insurance run-off claim data we show that the suggested fuzzy Hoerl curve based on the fuzzy ANCOVA gives reasonable claim reserves without stringent assumptions needed for the traditional regression approach in claim reserving.
