This study was performed to compare the efficacy between a DNA chip method and a Hybrid-Capture II assay (HC-II) for detecting human papillomavirus in patients with intraepithelial lesions of the uterine cervix. From May, 2005, to June, 2006, 192 patients with abnormal colposcopic findings received cervical cytology, HC-II and HPV DNA chip tests, and colposcopic biopsy or conization. We compared the results of HC-II and HPV DNA chip in conjunction with liquid based cervical cytology (LBCC) and confirmed the results of biopsy or conization. The sensitivity of the HPV DNA chip test was higher than HC-II or LBCC. The HPV DNA chip in conjunction with LBCC showed higher sensitivity than any single method and higher sensitivity than HC-II with LBCC. We confirmed that the HPV DNA chip test was more sensitive for detecting HPV in cervical lesions than HC-II, and that it would provide more useful clinical information about HPV type and its multiple infections.
우리나라 내습태풍 유형에 따른 강우특성 및 종관기후학적 분석

The recent unusual climate and extreme weather events have frequently given unexpected disaster and damages, facing difficulties in the management of water resources. In particular, climate change could result in intensified typhoons, and this would be the worst case scenario that can happen. The primary objective of this study is to identify the patterns of typhoon-induced precipitation and the associated synoptic pattern. This study focused on analyzing precipitation patterns over the South Korea using historic records as opposed to a specified season or duration, and further investigates the potential connection with heavy rainfall to synoptic patterns. In this study, we used the best track data provided by the Regional Specialized Meteorological Center of Japan for 40 years from 1973 to 2012. The patterns of the typhoon-induced precipitation were categorized into four groups according to a given typhoon track information, and then the associated synoptic climatology patterns were further investigated. The results demonstrate that the typhoon-induced precipitation patterns could be grouped and potentially simulated according to the identified synoptic patterns. Our future work will focus on developing a short-term forecasting model of typhoon-induced precipitation considering the identified climate patterns as inputs. 최근 빈번하게 발생하는 이상기후 현상은 수자원관리에 많은 어려움을 주고 있으며 예상치 못한 기상관련 재난피해를 야기하고 있다. 특히, 기후변화에 의해 점차 태풍의 세력이 강력해짐에 따라 태풍은 위험기상으로 인지된다. 본 연구의 주요목적은 태풍으로 인하여 발생하는 강우특성 및 종관기후학적 분석을 수행하는 것으로 일본 지역특별기상센터(Regional Specialized Meteorological Center Tokyo Typhoon Center, RSMC)에서 제공하는 1973년부터 2012년의 6시간 간격 최적경로(best track) 자료를 사용하여 우리나라에 상륙한 태풍사상만을 대상으로 태풍의 상륙 지속시간(내습시간)을 총 4개의 시간구간으로 구분하여 각 내습유형에 따른 강우특성 및 종관기후학적 분석을 수행하였다. 본 연구를 통한 결과는 태풍의 진로 및 이동속도를 예측 가능한 현 시점에서, 우리나라 태풍내습시 내습유형에 따른 홍수방어 및 사전대피와 같은 재해관리 측면에서 매우 유용한 정보를 제공할 것으로 사료된다. 향후 연구로서 본 연구를 통해서 확인된 기상학적 패턴을 활용하여 단기 태풍강수량 모의기법 개발이 필요할 것으로 판단된다.
보간법에 따른 기상레이더 강수자료와 지상 강수자료의 합성기법 평가

최근 국지성 집중호우 및 급격한 기상변화로 인해 돌발홍수와 같은 기상재해의 발생빈도가 증가함에 따라 고해상도의 기상레이더 강수자료를 사용한 수공학 분야의 연구가 활발하게 진행되고 있다. 기상레이더 강수자료를 활용하는 목적은 기상레이더 강수자료가 제공하는 공간분포를 최대한 활용하는데 있다. 본 연구에서는 고해상도 기상레이더 강수자료의 공간적 특성을 유지하면서 지상 강수자료의 양적특성을 극대화할 수 있는 조건부 합성기법을 보간법에 따라 분석 하였다. 기상레이더 강수자료와 지상 강수자료를 조건부 합성하기 위하여 Kriging, 역거리 가중법 및 Spline 보간법을 적용하였다. 조건부 합성결과는 지상 강수패턴을 현실성 있게 재현하였으며 추가적으로 보간법에 적용되지 않은 강수자료와 모형검증을 수행한 결과 조건부 합성을 통하여 생산된 공간적 강수정보의 수문학적 활용이 가능할 것으로 판단된다. The increased frequency of meteorological disasters has been observed due to increased extreme events such as heavy rainfalls and flash floods. Numerous studies using high-resolution weather radar rainfall data have been carried out on the hydrological effects. In this study, a conditional merging technique is employed, which makes use of geostatistical methods to extract the optimal information from the observed data. In this context, three different techniques such as kriging, inverse distance weighting and spline interpolation methods are applied to conditionally merge radar and ground rainfall data. The results show that the estimated rainfall not only reproduce the spatial pattern of sub-hourly rainfall with a relatively small error, but also provide reliable temporal estimates of radar rainfall. The proposed modeling framework provides feasibility of using conditionally merged rainfall estimation at high spatio-temporal resolution in ungauged areas.
수문기상학적 활용을 위한 레이더 강우자료 생산(I) : 편의보정 및 오차분포 산정

최근 기후변화로 인하여 발생하는 기상재해 및 위험기상 현상의 대비를 위하여 조밀한 시공간적 해상도를 갖는 레이더 강우가 활용되고 있지만 널리 사용되는 Marshall-Palmer의 Z-R 관계식으로 추정된 레이더 강우는 과소추정의 문제점이 있다. 본 연구는 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위하여 분위회귀 분석기법을 통한 레이더 강우자료 편의보정 기법과 Copula 함수를 연계한 강우자료 확충기법을 개발하였다. 본 연구에서 개발된 모형을 통하여 편의가 보정된 시계열 레이더 강우자료 효율을 통계적으로 분석한 결과 우수한 모형성능을 확인하였으며 Copula 기법을 이용하여 지상강우 및 레이더 강우자료를 확충한 결과 기존의 강우특성을 현실적으로 재현하는 것을 확인하였다. Copula 기법을 통한 강우자료 확충기법은 레이더 강우의 오차분포를 평가하는데 유용하게 활용될 것으로 판단된다. Information on radar rainfall with high spatio-temporal resolution over large areas has been used to mitigate climate-related disasters such as flash floods. On the other hand, a well-known problem associated with the radar rainfall using the Marshall-Palmer relationship is the underestimation. In this study, we develop a new bias correction scheme based on the quantile regression method. This study employed a bivariate copula function method for the joint simulation between radar and ground gauge rainfall data to better characterize the error distribution. The proposed quantile regression based bias corrected rainfall showed a good agreement with that of observed. Moreover, the results of our case studies suggest that the copula function approach was useful to functionalize the error distribution of radar rainfall in an effective way.

Objectives The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of herbal medicine on bone growth and growth factors by collecting and analyzing domestic and foreign experimental research papers to establish a platform for future research. Methods Experimental studies published before March 2021 were searched using 7 Korean databases and 2 foreign databases. Among the numbers of studies searched, 48 experimental studies met the criteria and were selected. The results of those 48 studies upon herbal medicine administration were analyzed by bone growth, growth plate, weight. Results 23 studies mainly used monotherapy of either Astragali Radix and Cervi Parvum Cornu. 28 studies used combination of Poria Sclerotium, Dioscoreae Rhizoma, and Acanthopanacis Cortex. Among all studies selected, weight, bone growth, Insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) and Growth hormone (GH) were increased, but the increase was significant only in some of the studies. Conclusions The result of this study can be utilized as a background information for further studies and treatment in pediatric growth. Further randomized control studies are needed to underscore the finding.
Burkholderia sp. D5에 의한 phenanthrene과 pyrene 분해

Burkholderia sp. D5, a polyaromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs)-degrading bacterium, was isolated from oil-contaminated soil. The bacterium could utilize phenanthrene (Phe) as a sole carbon source but could not use pyrene (Pyr). However, the strain could degrade Pyr when a cosubstrate such as yeast extract (YE) was supplemented. The PAH degradation rate of the bacterium was enhanced by the addition of other organic materials such as YE, peptone and glucose. YE was a particularly effective additive in stimulating cell growth as well as PAH degradation. When 1 g-YE/L was supplemented into the basal salt medium (BSM) with 215 mg-Phe/L, the specific growth rate (0.28 h-1) and Phe-degrading rate (29.30 μmol/L/h) were enhanced approximately ten and two times more than those obtained in the BSM with 215 mg-Phe/L, respectively. Through kinetic analysis, the maximum specific growth rate (μmax) and PAH degrading rate (Vmax) for Phe were obtained as 0.34/h and 289 ${\mu}mol$/L/h, respectively. Also, μmax and Vmax for Pyr were 0.27 h-1 and 50 ${\mu}mol$/L/h, respectively. The degradation rates for each Phe (2.20 μmol/L/h) and Pyr (2.18 μmol/L/h) were lower in mixture substrates than in a single substrate (29.30 ${\mu}mol$/L/h and 9.58 ${\mu}mol$/L/h, respectively). Burkholderia sp. D5 can degrade Phe and Pyr contained in soil, and the PAH degradation rates in soil were 20.03 ${\mu}mol$/L/h for Phe and 1.09 ${\mu}mol$/L/h for Pyr. Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs)를 분해하는 Burkholderia sp. D5를 유류 오염 토양으로 분리하였고, PAHs의 분해특성을 조사하였다. 분리균주는 유일 탄소원으로 phenanthrene(Phe)을 이용하여 생장이 가능하였고, pyrene (Pyr)을 유일 탄소원으로 이용하여 생장하지는 못하였으나 yeast extract(YE)를 공기질로 첨가해 준 조건에서는 Pyr를 분해할 수 있었다. 분리 균주의 PAH 분해속도는 YE, peptone 및 glucose의 첨가에 의해 향상되었으며, 특히 YE 첨가 효과가 가장 우수하였다. 무기염배지(BSM)에 215 mg-Phe/L와 1 g-YE/L를 첨가한 조건에서 Burkholderia sp. D5의 비생장속도(0.28/h)와 Phe 분해속도(29.30 ${\mu}mol$/L/h)는 YE를 첨가하지 않은 조건에서 얻은 비생장속도(0.02/h)와 Phe 분해속도(12.00 ${\mu}mol$/L/h)의 각각 10배 및 2배였다. Phe를 기질로 공급한 경우 최대 비생장속도(${\mu}$_max)와 최대 Phe분해속도(V_max)는 각각 0.34 h-1 및 89 ${\mu}mol$/L/h 이었고. Pyr을 기질로 공급한 경우 ${\mu}$_max와 V_max는 각각 0.27 h-1 및 50 ${\mu}mol$/L/h이었다. Phe 혹은 Pyr 단독 기질하에서 분해속도와 비교 하였을 때(29.30 ${\mu}mol$-Phe L/h, 9.58 ${\mu}mol$-Pyr L/h), 두 기질의 혼합조건에서 Phe와 Pyr 분해속도는 각각 2.20 및 2.18 ${\mu}mol$ L/ h로 저하되었다. Burkholderia sp. D5 균주는 토양에서 Phe와 Pyr을 분해할 수 있었는데, Phe와 Pyr 분해속도는 각각 20.03 및 1.09 ${\mu}mol$ L/h 이었다.

Various long-term studies have shown that titanium implants as abutments for different types of prostheses have become a predictable adjunct in the treatment of partially or fully edentulous patients. The continuous exposure of dental implants to the oral cavity with all its possible contaminants creates a problem. A lack of attachment, together with or caused by bacterial insult, may lead to peri-implantitis and eventual implant failure. Removal of plaque and calculus deposits from dental titanium implants with procedures and instruments originally made for cleaning natural teeth or roots may cause major alterations of the delicate titanium oxide layer. Therefore, the ultimate goal of a cleaning procedure should be to remove the contaminants and restore the elemental composition of the surface oxide without changing the surface topography and harming the surrounding tissues. Among many chemical and mechanical procedure, air-powder abrasive have been known to be most effective for cleaning and detoxification of implant surface. Most of published studies show that the dental laser may be useful in the treatment of pen-implantitis. $CO_2$ laser and Soft Diode laser were reported to kill bacteria of implant surface. The purpose of this study was to obtain clinical guide by application these laser to implant surface by means of Non-contact Surface profilometer and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS) with respect to surface roughness and atomic composition. Experimental rough pure titanium cylinder models were fabricated. All of them was air-powder abraded for 1 minute and they were named control group. And then, the $CO_2$ laser treatment under dry, hydrogen peroxide and wet condition or the Soft Diode laser treatment under Toluidine blue O solution condition was performed on the each of the control models. The results were as follows: 1. Mean Surface roughness(Ra) of all experimental group was decreased than that of control group. But it wasn't statistically significant. 2. XPS analysis showed that in the all experimental group, titanium level were decreased, when compared with control group. 3. XPS analysis showed that the level of oxygen in the experimental group 1, 3($CO_2$ laser treatment under dry and wet condition) and 4(Soft Diode laser was used under toluidine blue O solution) were decreased, when compared with control group. 4. XPS analysis showed that the atomic composition of experimental group 2($CO_2$ laser treatment under hydrogen peroxide) was to be closest to that of control group than the other experimental group. From the result of this study, this may be concluded. Following air-powder abrasive treatment, the $CO_2$ laser in safe d-pulse mode and the Soft Diode laser used with photosensitizer would not change rough titanium surface roughness. Especially, $CO_2$ laser treatment under hydrogen peroxide gave the best results from elemental points of view, and can be used safely to treat peri-implantitis.

For water resource management, the design flood is calculated using the flood frequency analysis technique and the rainfall runoff model. The method by design flood frequency analysis calculates the stochastic design flood by directly analyzing the actual discharge data and is theoretically evaluated as the most accurate method. Actual discharge data frequency analysis of the measured flow was limited due to data limitations in the existing flood flow analysis. In this study, design flood frequency analysis was performed using the measured flow data stably secured through the water level-discharge relationship curve formula. For the frequency analysis of design flood, the parameters were calculated by applying the bayesian inference, and the uncertainty of flood volume by frequency was quantified. It was confirmed that the result of calculating the design flood was close to that calculated by the rainfall-runoff model by applying long-term rainfall data. It is judged that hydrological analysis can be done from various perspectives by using long-term actual flow data through hydrological survey.
