Cytotoxic substances in dental calculus and root cementum of periodontally diseased teeth inhibit new attachment and regeneration. The purpose of scaling and root planing is to remove pathologic structures harboring these cytotoxic substances in order to create a biologically acceptable root surface. However, these procedures inevitably leave a non-biocompatible smear layer. Conventionally, the smear layer has been removed with low pH etching agents such as citric acid, phosphoric acid and tetracycline hydrochloride(TC). Lately, a supersaturated neutral pH etching solution of ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid(EDTA) has been found to be as effective as low pH etchants with respect to smear removal and to be superior in exposing root surfaceassociated collagen. The aim of the present study was to determine the effect of root surface treatment using EDTA on the initial attachment of human gingival fibroblasts. 27 human teeth, extracted due to severe periodontitis, were cut into dentin slices after root planing. The specimens were divided into TC group(treated with $50㎎/m{\ell}$ tetracycline-HCl, pH 1.52), EDTA group(treated with 17% EDTA, pH 7.4), and non-treated control group. After sterilization, 5th subcultured human gingival fibroblasts were seeded in each culture well containing a prepared root slice and incubated for 15 min., 60 min., and 4 hours in 5% $CO_2$ incubator at $37^{\circ}C$. At each incubation time, the number of attached fibroblasts were counted on the microphotographs taken at a magnification of x100. The difference of the number of attached cells between groups was statistically analyzed by the ANOVA followed by Duncan test in SPSS/PC+programs. The results were as follows : 1. After incubation for 15 min, the attached cells were significantly more in EDTA group and TC group than non-treated control group(p<0.05), but there was no significance in the difference between EDTA group and TC group(p>0.1). 2. After incubation for 60 min and 4 hours, there was no significant difference in the number of attached cells between all groups(p>0.1). 3. In both EDTA group and TC group, there was no significant difference in the number of attached cells between different incubation(p>0.1). But in control group, the number of attached cells was significantly increased after incubation for 60 min, compared with incubation for 15 min(p<0.05). The above results suggest that root surface treatment using EDTA could enhance the initial attachment of gingival fibroblasts to root surface as effective as tetracycline-HCl.

『Taketori monogatari』is the fantasy novel which primarily details conflicts and negotiations between ‘the moon world’ and ‘human world.’ Hence, the most important thing in studying the literature is to grasp the meaning of ‘the moon’ in the work. This thesis was written based on that perspective. The principal ideas can be summarized as follows. First, the phrase the harvest moon in the work reflects not Japanese ancient tradition but the influence of Chinese culture which is to appreciate the moon in the night. Second, the moon world in the work is more like paradise which was added Shintoism and Taoism to the belief in the pure land. Third, the taboo on staring the moon in the work was not passed down from neither Japanese ancient folk beliefs nor China, but was the reflection of author’s experience of lunar eclipse. Fourth, it is considered that the idea of moon being related to women was not first introduced in the Heian period.

예술교과의 교육과정 주변화와 인지능력으로서의 예술

본 연구는 예술이 정서의 영역이어서 비인지적 활동이라는 전통적 사고에 대해 비판적인 학자들이 적지 않음에 문제의식을 갖고, 예술교과가 학교교육과정에서 주변화된 배경과 예술의 인지적 측면을 살펴보았다. 고찰결과, 예술교과가 주변화된 것은 역사적이면서도 관념적인 측면이 강함을 알 수 있었다. 그리고 예술은 본질적으로 인지적 속성을 지니고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 고찰결과에 터해 학교에서의 예술교과는 재평가되어야 함을 논의하였다. This study inquired into the background of art subjects` marginalization in school curriculum and the cognitive aspects of arts through critical scholars` eyes on traditional perspectives of arts which they said artistic activities were emotional and non-cognitive. After review, it was revealed that the cause of art subjects` marginalization in school curriculum could be strongly attributed to the historical and ideological background and that arts intrinsically contain cognitive properties. Based on the findings, it was discussed that art subjects in school curriculum should be revaluated.

N/A Dialyzer reuse is an increasingly common practice in the management of end stage renal disease patients on maintenance hemodialysis, but the validity of this form of treatment still remains in question. The performance of dialyzer reuse was studied prospectively in 30 chronic hemodialysis patients using new(n=14) and reused(n=16) membranes. Clearance of solutes, hypoxemia and leukopenia were examined before, during and after hemodialysis. The results were summarized as follows: 1) Membrane clearance of small solutes (urea, creatinine) was maintained over dialyzer reuse. 2) Arterial oxygen tension was significantly lower at 30 minutes after hemodialysis in both new and reused cuprammonium dialyzer, but there was no significant difference between two groups. 3) Leukopenia was noted at 30 minutes after hemodialysis in both new and reused cuprammonium dialyzer group but change in WBC count was significantly lower in reused dialyzer group, 4) Transdialyzer changes in pH, hematocrit and bicarbonate at completion of hemodialysis were similar in both groups.

기도의 준비로서의 루이 랄르망의 마음 지킴

빠른 속도로 변해가는 현대 사회에서 사람들은 여러 가지 일과 걱정 가운데 분주하게 살아간다. 그럴수록 기도 안에서 참 평화와 영적 힘을 얻고자 하는 갈망도 커가지만, 동시에 많은 이들이 기도 시간에 분심과 잡념으로 인하여 어려움을 겪게 되고 회의를 느끼기도 한다. 이에 대하여 최근의 기도 방법들은 분심에 사로잡히지 않고 침잠하는 방법들을 나름대로 제시하고 있다. 수많은 생각과 상상에 사로잡히지 않는 것 자체가 기도하는 데 있어서 커다란 도움이 되는 것이 사실이지만, 이를 위하여 인위적으로 자신에게 떠오르는 모든 생각들을 몰아내는 것은 신중하지 않다. 기도하는 순간 다양한 생각들에서 자유로워지면서 하느님과의 하나 됨을 향하여 나아가기 위해서는 오히려 평상시에 자신의 마음을 잘 지키고 덕을 닦아나가는 것이 필요하다. 왜냐하면 평상시의 마음가짐이나 삶의 자세는 구체적인 기도 시간에 막대한 영향을 미치기 때문이다. 이처럼 기도하기 전이나 가까이에 기도하기 좋은 몸과 마음 상태를 만드는 것을 근준비라고 하고, 기도하기 훨씬 전, 곧 평상시에 자신의 마음을 잘 살피고 지키며 덕을 쌓아가는 것을 원준비라고 부르는데, 기도를 잘 하기 위해서는 한 가지 측면만을 고집할 것이 아니라, 이 둘을 적절하게 잘 사용해야 한다. 교회 역사에서 수많은 영성가들이 기도를 위한 원준비를 강조하였으며, 이들 가운데 가장 두드러지는 인물은 프랑스 영성학파의 예수회 신부인 루이 랄르망이다. 랄르망은 자신이 양성하던 제3수련기 제자들이 가까운 미래에 펼치게 될 사도직을 통하여 많은 결실을 거두기 위해서는 거룩한 자가 되어야 한다고 보았다. 이를 위해서는 거룩하고 하느님의 뜻을 따르도록 이끌어주시는 성령의 지도에 유순해야 하며, 성령의 이끄심대로 살아가기 위해서는 마음을 잘 지켜 순수한 마음을 지녀야 한다고 말하였다. 이런 맥락에서 그는 모든 기도 여정에서 마음 지킴의 필요성을 줄기차게 강조하고 있다. 근준비를 주로 강조하면서 기도하는 순간에 생각이 단순해지거나 아예 없는 것을 기도나 성덕이 진보했다는 표지로 착각하게 만드는 최근의 기도 방법들에 랄르망이 강조하는 원준비로서의 마음 지킴은 균형을 잡도록 도와줄 것이다. In modern society where everything changes rapidly, people lives are busily engaged with their work and daily worries. With the result that christians long for peace and spiritual strength. Many people when it come time for their prayer time have difficulties due to distractions and rambling thoughts and so they often become skeptical about their own prayers. In relation to this topic of distractions in prayer recently published methods of prayer emphasize various ways on how to focus on prayer. It is true that not being consumed with various thoughts and imaginations is helpful, but it is an aspect of a prayer. It is not prudent to eliminate every kinds of thoughts deliberately. If someone wants to make steady progress towards union with God, and not be bothered by various thoughts, he will need to guard his heart and practice the virtue. Costudy of the Heart. My habitual mental attitude influences enormously on how I concrete during my time of prayer. A preparation to get in the proper frame of mind and keep my heart suitable for prayer is usually called ‘near(immediate) preparation’. It is the moment of prayer or just before it. On the other hand custody of the heart and the practice of virtue in an ordinary life is called ‘remote preparation’. So, to pray well we don’t insist on only one aspect, but use both of them appropriately, because my ordinary life has an effect on my life of prayer. Many authors through the history of the Church have stressed the need of remote preparation for prayer, prominent among them is Louis Lallemant S.J. of the school of french spirituality. Lallemant firmly believed that his disciples of the third probation had to be holy in order to bear good fruit in their future apostolates. For this purpose, he claimed that they had to be docile to the direction of the Holy Spirit, who helps them to be holy and follow God’s will, and they also must keep their hearts pure with custody of their hearts to live according to the direction of the Holy Spirit. In this context, his treatise of itinerary of prayer shows very clearly the importance of custody of the heart to progress steadily. In recent years the guidebooks on prayer emphasized excessively ‘immediate preparation’ for prayer. Consequently many people were easily led to believe not thinking or thinking simply in moments of prayer was a sign of progress in their spirituality and prayer. In a situation like that, custody of the heart as ‘remote preparation’ as stressed by Louis Lallemant would help them to find a more proper balance in their understanding of their prayer.
