The electromagnetic scattering characteristics by a periodic strip grating on a grounded dielectric slab for TM polarization case are examined from the viewpoints of both the reflection grating and the leaky wave antenna problems. Numerical results far two kinds of Bragg blazing (resonance type and non-resonance type) phenomena are given and some discussions on the properties(complex propagation constants, scattering characteristics, and distributions of strip current density) are presented. The comparison of the Bragg blazing phenomena between TM and TE polarization cases are also given in detail. 접지된 유전체 슬랩 위에 주기적으로 스트립이 놓여 있는 격자구조에 대한 전자파 산란 특성을 TM편파의 경우에 대하여 반사격자(reflection grating)관점과 누설파안테나(leaky wave antenna)관점에서 조사하였다. 수치해석 결과로 Bragg blazing 현상을 두가지 형태(공진형과 비공진형)로 구분하였으며 그 특성(복소전파상수, 산란특성, 전류밀도분포)에 대하여 논의하였다. 특히, 본 연구구조의 TE 및 TM편파 경우에서 확인한 Bragg blazing 현상에 관하여 상세히 기술하였다.

A numerical method for scattering of electromagnetic waves from an arbitary shaped grating covered whth dielectric slab is considered for TE polarization case from the viewpoints of both reflection grating problem and leaky wave antenna problem. The analysis is based on a periodic Green's function and the method of moments. Integral equation is obtained for the currents induced on an infinite perfextly conducting grating and solved by use of the method of moments employing pulse Galerkin's scheme. Numerical results involving some combination of geometric paramerers are presented in terms of complex propagation constants and relative scattered powers of spectral modes.

The problem of Smith-Purcell radiation by a strip grating over a groundeddielectric slabl is analyzed by use of the equivalence principle, Floquet's theorem, and the method of moment. the relative radiation intensities of the space harmonics, computed by use of the proposed method, for the appropriately chosen charge velocities and grating dimensions are presented. In particular, some relationships between the smith-purcell radiation and the leaky-wave radiation in the proposed geometry are investigated.
