In order to assess the level of atmospheric pollution and to contribute the health improvement of residents in Taejon city, the authors were measured the concentration of air pollutants(CO, SO₂, NO₂, TSP, Pb, Cd, Cr) at three places of the control road in Taejon. The investigative research performed bimonthly from May 1993 to September 1993, and the places were the underground shopping stores of Taejon station, Dongyang department store and provincial goverment areas. The results of statistical analysis are as followings. ① CO : 0.569∼0.966 ppm ② SO₂: 0.084∼0.170ppm ③ NO₂: 0.0045∼0.022ppm ④ TSP : 249∼299㎍/㎥ ⑤ Pb : 0.366∼1.157㎍/㎥ ⑥ Cd : 0.016∼0.025㎍/㎥ The mean concentration of SO₂ in Dongyang department store area was 0.17ppm, and it exceeded the ambient air quality standard by 0.02ppm. The concentration of TSP was higher than a standing rule of public hygiene, and it was very near to a standing rule of environmental preservation.
3차원 전극(Bipolar Packed Bed Electrode)을 이용한 호소수 처리(II)

This study was to analyze the right or wrong of gray-water treatment by applying BPBE electrode cell to the effluence water in the terminal disposal plant of sewage. The results were as follows : The best result was obtained with applied voltage 40V and detention time 6 minutes for the BPBE electrode cell which has the graphite-plate in main electro-de, packing coconut activated carbon. The elimination rate of COD of Al-plate was higher than that of graphite-plate in main electrode. The result of electrolysis for 3 hour in parallel circuit showed the using possibility of gray-water according to each elimination rate : COD 59%, T-N 69 %, T-P 69%. The BPBE electrode cell with the Al-plate in main electrode made the best effect for the elimination of algae in lake water and algae were not occurred in electrolytic water.

For the purpose of electrolytic treatment of wastewater containing various heavy metals, the BPBE Cell of batch and continuous type was considered and experimented. Some results from this study were summarized as follows: 1. When the artificial wastewater containing 500 mg/l of the concentration of various heavy metallic ion was electrolyzed in BPBE Cell of batch type, the removal efficicency was over 95% in cadmiun (II), lead (II), chromium (Ⅵ) and over 85% in copper (II), chromium (III). 2, As granular activated carbon packed in BPBE Cell, coconut shell was superior to lignite and the removal efficiency was the highest when the activated carbon was 4/6 mesh, the voltage was 20V. 3. When the heavy metallic ion in wastewater was electrolyzed in BPBE Cell of continuous type, about 1,000mg of heavy metal per 1kg of coconut sell could be removed. 4. The treatment method of heavy metallic ion in wastewater by BPBE Cell cost less than in the former chemical treatment method and the coconut shell packed in BPBE Cell could be regenerated by chemical method.

This study analyzed temperature, pH, electric conductivity, moisture contents and organic materials for composting which mixed bulking agents and composting necessaring additional materials a discharged sludge in water treatment plant. 1. Temperature was sustained at 55-65℃, highly at the water purifier sludge rate of 30%. 2. pH was neared neutral as passed the composting time. 3. The electric conductivity of organic materials compost was decleased to increasing of the composting time. 4. The content of moisture was showned from 20 to 30%. 5. The percentage of organic materials in compost was decreased to the composting time.
고속도로 휴게소 오수정화시설의 처리비 원단위 산정에 관한 연구

This study aimed to obtain the relative formula with the unit treatment cost according to the treatment of a sewage plant in the service area under highway. The following results were obtained. The correlative formula between an annual amount of sale and sewage showed S=19.113·C^0.9294. Extended Aeration Process showed the most generative amount 12.72㎥and Contact Oxidation process the least generative amount 10.28㎥ per one million won. The correlative formula between the number of persons and sewage showed Q=2×10^-8·P^2 - 0.0298·P+75,666. Natural Oxidation Process and Activate Sludge Process were the most amount 0.10㎥/person, and Extended Aeration Process was the least amount 0.05㎥/person. The treatment cost was as follows : management cost was 60%, electrical cost 22.7%, sludge treatment cost 15.5%, and the cost of water examination 1.8%. The correlative formula of the treatment cost according to the sewage showed S= 3×10^-6·Q^2-0.2266·Q+29,895. Natural Oxidation process was the highest 1,664won/㎥ and Contact Oxidation Process cost the lowest 410won/㎥. The correlative formula according to the removal of BOD showed S=6×10^-5·E^2 - 0.6717·E + 27,744. Natural Oxidation Process was the highest 6,984won/removal BODkg and Contact Oxidation Process was the lowest 1,793won/removal BODkg. The correlative formu1a of the treatment cost acceding to the annual amount of sale showed S=0.0005·C^2 - 4.8013·C + 35,118. Natural Oxidation Process was the most 17,327won/one million won and contact Oxidation Process the lowest 3,986won/one million won. The correlative formula of the treatment cost with the number of persons using the service area showed S= 2×10-8·P^2 - 0.046·P + 48,803. Activated Sludge Process was the highest 76.2won/ person and Contact Oxidant Process was the lowest 21.0won/person.
