윤주헌,최은창,이정권,김경수,김창훈 대한비과학회 1994 Journal of rhinology Vol.1 No.2
Fourty-four patients with inverting papilloma were analyzed to invesitgate types of operation, recurrence and the relation with malignancy. Male to female ratio was 2.4:1. Inverting papillomas involved the maxillary sinus(90.1%) and ethmoid sinus (63.6%), orbit (15.9%) and skull base(9.1%). We performed intranasal excision of tumor(17cases), simple excision via lateral rhinotomy of midfacial degloving approach(10 cases), medial maxillectomy via lateral rhinotomy of midfacial degloving approach(11 cases), total maxiilectomy with orbital exenteration (1 case) and cranilfacial resection (5 cases). Recurrence was noted in eight case(29.6%) out of twenty-seven patients treated with conservative surgery and in one case(9.1%) ouf of eleven patients treated with radical surgery. Among fourty-four cases, seven patients(15.9%) had carcinoma. Complete excision by approaches which can provide wider surgical view including the medial maxillectomy will be required to reduce the recurrence rate. We should bear in mind the possibility will be required to reduce the recurrence rate. We should bear in mind the possibility of malignancy in all cases of inverting papilloma of the nose and paranasal sinuses.
