Background: Diabetic wounds are a major clinical challenge, because minor skin wounds can lead to chronic, unhealed ulcers and ultimately result in infection, gangrene, or even amputation. Studies on bone marrow derived mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) and a series of growth factors have revealed their many benefits for wound healing and regeneration. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) may improve the environment for BMSC development and differentiation. However, whether combined use of BMSCs and PRP may be more effective for accelerating diabetic ulcer healing remains unclear. Objective: We investigated the efficacy of BMSCs and PRP for the repair of refractory wound healing in a diabetic rat model. Methods: Forty-eight rats with diabetes mellitus induced by streptozotocin were divided into four groups: treatment with BMSCs plus PRP, BMSCs alone, PRP alone, phosphate buffered saline. The rate of wound closure was quantified. A histopathological study was conducted regarding wound depth and the skin edge at 7, 14, and 28 days after surgery. Results: Wound healing rates were significantly higher in the BMSC plus PRP group than in the other groups. The immunohistochemistry results showed that the expression of platelet/endothelial cell adhesion molecule 1, proliferating cell nuclear antigen, and transforming growth factor-β1 increased significantly in the BMSC plus PRP group compared to the other treatment groups. On day 7, CD68 expression increased significantly in the wounds of the BMSC plus PRP group, but decreased markedly at day 14 compared to the controls. Conclusion: The combination of BMSCs and PRP aids diabetic wound repair and regeneration. (Ann Dermatol 26(1) 1∼10, 2014)
The Dynamic Mechanical Properties for Recycled Aggregate Concrete under Tensile-Compressive States
Zhen-Jun He,Zhi-qiang Wang,Meng-jia Ding,Zhen-wei Wang,Xiao-jie Zhang,Lian-shuo Liu 대한토목학회 2020 KSCE Journal of Civil Engineering Vol.24 No.5
The experiments under biaxial tensile-compressive (T-C) complex stress were carried out for two kinds of substitution percentages of recycled coarse aggregate (RCA) on biaxial proportional loading (α = σ1:σ3 =1:0, 0: -1, 0.05: -1, 0.1: -1, 0.25: -1, 0.5: -1, 1: -1 and-1: -1) and four loading deformation rates of 10−5/s, 10−4/s , 10−3/s, and 10−2/s. The research was completed in the static-dynamic true triaxial machine. The experimental phenomena indicate the tensile failure appears in these specimens of recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) under biaxial T-C stress states. The dynamic mechanical behavior for RAC under biaxial T-C loadings was affected by the strain rates, stress ratios and its substitution percentages of RCA. Accompanied by the increase of strain rates, its strength of RAC is improved. As the tensile stress increases, its compressive strength decreases. The T-C strengths for RAC under biaxial T-C states are less than its corresponding uniaxial T-C strengths at a certain identical strain rates, respectively. Considering the effect of loading rates, a new tensile-compressive failure criterion is established under complex stress states.

In recent years, machine-to-machine (M2M) communications are under rapid development to meet the fast-increasing requirements of multi-type wireless services and applications. In order to satisfy M2M communications requirements, heterogeneous networks convergence appears in many areas, i.e., mobile cellular networks (MCNs) and wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are evolving from heterogeneous to converged. In this paper, we introduce the system architecture and application requirement for converged MCN and WSN, where mobile terminals in MCN are acting as both sensor nodes and gateways for WSN. And then, we discuss the joint optimization of converged networks for M2M communications. Finally, we discuss the technical challenges in the converged process of MCN and WSN.
Design and optimization of prosthetic foot by using polylactic acid 3D printing
Zhen Tao,안형종,Chenglong Lian,이광희,이철희 대한기계학회 2017 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.31 No.5
This paper describes the complete design process of a passive prosthetic foot manufactured of Polylactic acid (PLA). It focuses on the reduction in the weight of prosthetic feet. Most of the prosthetic feet are designed with more weight and material than required. The structure of this passive prosthetic foot is designed and optimized as light as possible by using topology optimization. The topology-optimized model is printed from a Three-dimensional (3D) printer directly rather than interpreting the model using a Computer-aided design (CAD) software. The finite element analysis and the experiments are conducted to validate the structure. The test equipment is designed and installed for simulating the boundary conditions of the Heel strike (HS) and Toe off (TO). Since the weight of the prosthetic directly affects the mobility of patients, the weight of the proposed model is reduced 62 % when compared initial model to the final model.

Elsberg syndrome (ES) is an infectious syndrome presenting with variable signs of acute lumbosacral radiculomyelitis. Its low recognition rate leads to misdiagnosis and incorrect treatment. Thus, some ES patients may develop neurological sequelae. This case described a 74-year-old woman complained of urinary retention, constipation, and sacral numbness after herpes zoster in the perianal area. She was diagnosed with ES and accepted conventional drug treatments and urethral catheterization. The treatment was ineffective; therefore, she accepted electroacupuncture six times and her symptoms completely disappeared, with no recurrence of neurological disorders during 1-year follow-up. This shows that acupuncture is a safe and effective alternative therapy for ES. Nonetheless, further prospective studies are necessary to prove its efficacy in ES.
SLOTTED ATM COMPUTER RING NETWORK-THROUGHPUT AND DELAY
Bing, Lian Hong,Zhen, Tu Shi 대한전자공학회 1992 HICEC:Harbin International Conference on Electroni Vol.1 No.1
This paper introduces a slotted ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) ring network. The available bandwidth allocated to the node on the ring is analyzed. Under some assumptions we discover that the maximum throughput is only related to the mean cell trip (m). We demonstrate that the cell queue model in the node is Geometric /Geometric/ 1 queue. Finally, some numerical results of the network throughput and cell delay on the node are given.

<P>Folate and vitamin B12 involved in the one-carbon metabolism may play a key role in carcinogenesis and progression of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) through influencing DNA integrity. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the association of plasma folate and vitamin B12 levels with HCC in a case-control study on 312 HCC patients and 325 cancer-free controls. Plasma concentrations of folate and vitamin B12 in all the subjects were measured by electrochemiluminescence immunoassay. Meanwhile, the information of HCC patients’ clinical characteristics including tumor-node-metastasis (TNM) stage, tumor size and tumor markers were collected. The patients of HCC had significantly lower folate levels than those of controls; there was no significant difference in the mean of plasma vitamin B12 levels. We also observed an inverse association between the levels of plasma folate and HCC: the adjusted odds ratios (OR) (95% confidence intervals (CI)) of HCC from the highest to lowest quartile of folate were 0.30 (0.15–0.60), 0.33 (0.17–0.65), and 0.19 (0.09–0.38). Compared to the subjects in the lowest quartile of plasma vitamin B12, only the subjects in the highest quartile of vitamin B12 exhibited a significant positive relationship with HCC, the adjusted OR was 2.01 (95% CI, 1.02–3.98). HCC patients with Stage III and IV or bigger tumor size had lower folate and higher vitamin B12 levels. There was no significant difference in the mean plasma folate levels of the HCC cases in tumor markers status (AFP, CEA and CA19-9 levels), whereas patients with higher CEA or CA19-9 levels retained significantly more plasma vitamin B12 than those with normal-CEA or CA19-9 level. In conclusion, plasma folate and vitamin B12 levels could be associated with HCC, and might be used as predictors of clinical characteristics of HCC patients. However, further prospective studies are essential to confirm the observed results.</P>
