      • Azithromycin으로 치료한 임신 중 쓰쓰가무시병 1예

        We report a case of tsutsugamushi disease in a 26 year-old pregnant woman who was treated with azithromycin. Her gestation period was 27 weeks and she admitted with fever, rash, and eschar on the right shoulder. Currently recommended medications for the treatment of scrub typhus are doxycycline or chloramphenicol. But, these drugs are class D drugs according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Fetal Risk Summary, so they couldn't be used to treat pregnant women. Recently, a few case reports suggested that azithromycin, a relatively new macrolide antibiotic, was effective and safe for the treatment of scrub typhus in pregnant women. And, there is no evidence that azithromycin causes harmful effects to the developing fetus or to children. On the basis of current in vivo test that confirms the effectiveness of azithromycin, it may be the drug of choice for the treatment of scrub typhus in pregnant women and children.         平面式 太陽熱集熱機를 利用한 紅蔘乾燥

        密閉式물 交換太陽 熱集熱乾燥製置를 利用하여 紅蔘을 乾燥할때의 集熱效率, 乾燥效率. 乾燥特性 및 製品의 品質을 各各 調査하였다. 乾燥其間은 太陽熱集熱製置를 利用한 것이 慣行法보다 3分의 1程度를 더 短 할 수 있었다. 乾燥其間中集熱機의 最大效率은 14.42% 最低效率은 4.73%였고 乾燥效率은 集熱製置를 利用한 것이 28.34%, 對照區가 13.45%로서 純粹乾燥效率은 14.89%이었다. 紅蔘의 乾燥率曲線은 減率乾燥期만을 나타내었으며, 이 때의 式은 Y=50.7023t.-014138 이었다. 乾燥紅蔘의 色度는 慣行法과 比較하여 더 높았으며, diphenylpicryl hydrazyl 遇元能도 같은 傾向을 보였다. A closed solar collector drying system by water exchange was evaluated for the drying of ginseng. The thermal efficiency of solar collector, drying efficiency, drying characteristics and product quality were investigated. The drying period was reduced by one-thirds in comparison with typical method. The maximum and minimum thermal efficiency of the solar collector during drying period were 14.42%, and 4.73%, respectively. The drying efficiency of solar collector and control system showed 28.34%, and 13.45%, respectively: net drying efficiency being 14.8%. The drying rate curve of red ginseng showed only falling rate period, and its equation was Y=50.7023t.^(-0.4138) The brown color intensity of red ginseng was higher in solar collector drying system than in typical method, and reductivity by diphenyl picryl hydrazil solution in red ginseng extract showed similar result to brown color intensity.

        축대칭 렌즈 코어의 초정밀 보정가공에 관한 연구

        Code V was used to make a plan for collimator lens with aspherical surface in the present study. The acquired optical design data were applied for ultra-precision machining. The optimum properties were determined to find ways to compensate the tool positioning error allowance during the ultra-precision machining. In ultra-precision aspheric machining, figure tolerance corrected by tool positioning error be improved by compensation cycle number.

        Background : In recent years, gonorrhea has been panedemic and remains one of the most commom STDs in the world, especially in developing countries. Objective & Methods: For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of PPNG, we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the VD Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by means of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. Results: In 1996, 139 strains of N. gonorrhoeae were isolated, among which 53(39.0%) were PPNG. Conclusion: Our results suggests that after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, the prevalence of PPNG in Seoul is gradually declining.

      • Multiple Shoots Regeneration and In vitro Bulblet Formation from Garlic Callus

        The leaf segments of garlic (Allium sativum L.) were cultured in vitro and determined optimal concentration of plant growth regulators and sugars for callus induction, multiple shoots regeneration and in vitro bulblet formation. Highest yield of callus was observed in the leaf segment culture on Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium supplemented with 1.0 mg/L 2,4-D, 30 g/L sucrose and 8 g/L agar. Regeneration rate of multiple shoots from callus was high in the MS medium supplemented with kinetin 3.0 + NAA 3.0 mg/L or SA 1.0 + NAA 3.0 mg/L, containing 30 g/L sucrose. High rate of bulblet formation was observed as the concentration of jasmonic acid increased from 0.5 to 2.0 mg/L in medium, whereas addition of gibberellic acid significantly suppressed bulblet formation. The rate of in vitro bulbing was as high as $96\%$ in MS medium supplemented with 2.0 mg/L jasmonic acid and 120 g/l sucrose after two month culture at $25{\pm}1^{\circ}C$ under 16 hours day light.

      • Extracts of Scutellariae Radix inhibit low-density lipoprotein oxidation and the lipopolysaccharide-induced macrophage inflammatory response

        <P>Traditional herbal formulas made from Scutellariae Radix (SR), the root of Scutellaria baicalensis, have previously been used in the treatment of inflammatory diseases, such as atherosclerosis. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of SR on low-density lipoprotein (LDL) oxidation and inflammation in macrophages, which are early events in the development of atherosclerosis. High-performance liquid chromatography photo-diode array analysis was used to obtain a three-dimensional chromatogram of SR. The antioxidative effects of SR were evaluated by determining its scavenging activities against ABTS and DPPH radicals. The inhibitory effect of SR on LDL oxidation was examined using a thiobarbituric acid-reactive substance assay and a relative electrophoretic mobility assay. In addition, the anti-inflammatory effects of SR were evaluated in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced RAW264.7 murine macrophage cells. The results showed that SR exhibited radical-scavenging activities in a dose-dependent manner; in addition, SR attenuated the Cu2+-induced oxidation of LDL as well as significantly inhibited nitric oxide (NO) production and inducible NO synthase (iNOS) expression in LPS-induced RAW264.7 cells. Furthermore, SR induced the protein expression of heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) in RAW264.7 cells. In conclusion, the results of the present study demonstrated that SR decreased the oxidation of LDL and suppressed inflammatory responses in macrophages, which occurred at least in part via the induction of HO?1. These results therefore suggested that SR may be a potential therapeutic agent for the treatment of atherosclerosis.</P>

        특별기고(特別奇稿)(중국철학) : 예찬의 "일기(逸氣)" 회화 미학 소고

        본 논문은 원대 화가 예찬(倪瓚: 1301~1371)이 중시하였던 ``일기(逸氣)``의 미학적 의미를 고찰하는 데 의의가 있다. 예찬의 일기는 그의 예술사상을 함축하고 있다. 물론 이 일기는 예찬이 만들어낸 미학체계가 아니라,이미 위진 시대 인물품평에서 시작하여 그 후 차츰 문학과 예술 속에 스며든 것으로서 예술가의 정신세계와 도덕 수양, 기질 등 총체적으로 만들어낸 예술 경계를 가리키는 용어였다. 처음에 호연지기(浩然之氣), 정기(精氣) 등 도덕적 개념의 기(氣)를 가리키던 일기가 송대에 이르러 예술적 개념의 기(氣)로 의미 확장이 이루어졌고 이후부터 일기는 고전 문인 사대부들에 의해 최고 경계의 예술가가 갖춘 개인 인격의 수준과 그의 예술풍격을 가리키는 것으로 간주되기 시작하였다. 예찬이 살았던 시대는 몽골이 남송을 멸하고 중국을 통일하자 여러방면에 많은 변화가 일어난 시기이다. 특히 민족 간의 불평등, 남북문화의 대립, 불교와 도교의 사상적 논쟁, 과거제 폐지 등 복잡하고 혼탁한 시대 현실에서 예찬은 자신의 내적 지향과 시대 변화의 대응으로써 은일(隱逸) 생활을 택하였고 그의 인생 체험 경계로서 초일(超逸), 방일(放逸), 고일(高逸) 등의 품격이 결합된 ``일기``가 형성되었다. 따라서 이 일기는 예찬에게 있어서 자신의 인격이 그대로 드러난 인품의 표현인 동시에 예술적 경계의 표출인 것이다. 예찬의 철학적 사유는 유가에 기반 하면서 도가와 불교의 선(禪)에 귀의했던 인생체험의 경계와 세속적 명리와 속박에서의 초탈한 은일생활에서 형성되었다. 예찬 일기의 미학적 특징은 유.불.도의 합일에 의한 자오의 일기와 일필초초(逸筆草草)의 일기이다. 나아가 심중의 일기(逸氣)를 간략한 필치로 있는 그대로 표현한 천진평담(天眞平淡)한 산수화 작품들은 그의 일품 미학을 잘 보여준다. This research aimed at investigating the aesthetic significance of Yuan dynasty artist Ye Chan(倪瓚: 1301~1371)`s ``Ilgi(逸氣)``, which implies his artistic idea. The basis of his artistic idea implies period background, philosophy, feelings about life, experience of life, and mental boundary including space view. Of course, this Ilgi is not a mere aesthetic system created by Ye Chan, but indicates the artist`s mental world, moral cultivation, and a certain character of artist by gradually being infiltrated into the literature starting from Wei Qin Dynasty character evaluation, furthermore, went forward artistic spirit by being derived from the spirit of morality, such as Hoyeonjigi(浩然之氣), Jeonggi(精氣). Therefore, Ilgi was regarded as the highest personality type and artistic character by the classic literary noblemen. During the period when Ye Chan lived, lots of change occurred in various fields when Mongolia defeated South Sung and unified China. Particularly, Ye Chan was mentally shocked greatly to encounter complex social reality such as inequality between peoples, conflict between South and North culture, ideological dispute between Buddhism and Taoism, and abolition of state examination, etc. Ye Chan lived a hermitic(隱逸) life due to his inner tendency, period environment and living environment, escaping from this corrupt reality, and found peace of mind in such hermitic life. He created Ilgi which combined Cho-il(超逸), Bang-il(放逸), and Go-il(高逸) dignity, life experience boundary that cultivated his mind, this Ilgi was the expression of the highest character from the highest personality. Ye Chan`s philosophical cause was created when he escaped from all name and fortune and restriction by being separated from the world in the boundary of life experience when he entered into Zen in reliance on Confucianism and Taoism, particularly while living in hermitic(隱逸) life that had been formed in his latter years. Especially, aesthetic characteristic of Ilgi was Ja O(自娛)`s Ilgi, which was Ja Seong`s idea, who expressed one`s mind through the spirit that strolled(逍遙遊) through independence of the individual and freedom of self due to the influence of Taoism and the Zen sect. The technique that best expressed his idea, enlightenment, and emotion was Ilpilchocho(逸筆草草) Ilgi. Lastly, landscape painting expressed with Cheonjinpyungdam(天眞平淡), stroked with Ye Chan`s Hyungjung Ilgi was a matchless aesthetic piece.

        Multi-beam Microcolumns Based on Arrayed SCM and WCM

        multi-beam microcolumn and an arrayed microcolumn structure based on a wafer-scale Einzel lens have been fabricated and successfully demonstrated for high-throughput electron-beam application. Each microcolumn has been designed to have its own electron emitter, source lens system, and octupole de ector for their independent operation. Single-column operation characteristics according to electron-beam energy variation and the best way of getting higher probe beam current will be reported. Also, preliminary results for an arrayed microcolumn with a waferscale Einzel lens and the possibility of a full wafer-scale microcolumn array will be presented.
