        Conflict Transformation: The East China Sea Dispute and Lessons from the Ecuador-Peru Border Dispute

        Developments in the East China Sea disputes in recent years appear to have set back Northeast Asian regional integration. Are there ways of turning these negative developments into more positive ones? Taking the Ecuador-Peru territorial dispute as a model, I consider the possibility of conflict transformation for the East China Sea dispute. The Ecuador-Peru border dispute was the most protracted in the Western Hemisphere, yet a peace agreement was finally reached in 1998, suggesting that even the most deeply ingrained differences and most persistent disputes can be transformed and ultimately overcome.

        Government Role in the Internationalization of Accounting Standards in China

        계획경제체제에서 시장경제체제로 탈바꿈하여 겨우 30년을 경과한 중국에서 회계기준의 국제화는 장기간 자본주에 체제를 발전시켜 온 나라들에 비하여 한낮 어려운 과제로서 정부의 강력한 대응과 지원이 필요하다. 본 연구는 중국에서 회계기준의 국제화를 위한 정부의 지난 역할을 살펴보고 당면한 난제를 짚어 보면서 앞으로 정부의 회계기준의 국제화 전략을 제시하고자 한다. 중국이 회계기준의 국제화 과정에 부딪친 문제들은 정부와 회계학계 그리고 기타 사회단체들이 함께 노력해야 하지만 그 중에서 정부의 노력이 더욱 필요하다. 구체적으로 보면 정부의 노력이 아래와 같은 면에서 특별히 요청된다. 우선 큰 안목에서 회계기준의 국제화를 위한 정부의 중장기 목표와 계획이 수립되어야 하며 다음으로는 중국의 특정에 따라 법률, 시스템, 세무, 회계 등 다양한 영역의 협력을 지속시켜야 하며 그 다음으로는 더욱 긴밀한 국제협력을 통하여 중국 회계기준이 국제적인 인정을 받기 위한 노력을 기울려야 한다. 마지막으로 공인회계사 제도와 내부통제제도 등 제도건설을 강화함으로써 회계기준의 순조로운 국제화를 보장하여야 한다. 그 외에도 회계기준의 국제화를 위하여1000만명에 이르는 회계담당자에 대한 재교육도 무시할 수 없는 정부의 중요한 과제이다. It is only 30 years since China transformed its economic system from planned economy to market economy. So it is more difficult for China to realize the internationalization of accounting standards than the developed capitalist countries. China has to challenge and overcome its own special obstacles, and needs strong support and overall planning from its government. This paper mainly explains strategic measures used by Chinese government to internationalize the accounting standards, analyzes major problems we are currently facing and explores the role Chinese government should play in this important process. Though problems discussed above need to be solved by different sectors working together, what government do is of the most importance: Firstly, the government must set mid and long term goals and plans as the process of international compliance of accounting standards needs long term international cooperation; Secondly, taking the national conditions into account. further improve and coordinate laws. regulations, taxation, accounting, etc.: Thirdly, strengthen the international cooperation in a more extensive extent so as to realize the equal effects of China's accounting standards in the world; Lastly, keep on the regulation making of CPA and conclude the internal accounting control systems as the international compliance of accounting standards needs CPA systems. Besides, the internationalization of accounting standards makes it an indispensible part to further educate the present ten million or so accounting personnel.

        한국어 통사적 반복표현에 대한 고찰

        This paper focused on the repetition of the syntactic structure to examine the repeat type. Repetitive types by repetitive types of the syntactic structure are broad concepts that can even include patterns of discourse, so the purpose of this school was to examine the appearance and syntactic features of the speech, focusing on the syntactic repetitive expressions (excluding idiomatic idioms) that appear on a single word and phrase layer. In this book, the reuse of the syntactic structure was regarded as a syntactic iterative expression. These repetitive expressions are mainly composed of grammar and word order. Syntax repetitive expressions on the word layer were mainly divided into two types. One is the repetition of pronouns + surveys/nouns, and the other is the repetition of 'abbreviations + mothers'. This syntactic repetition is a phenomenon that occurs within a word and is mainly composed of grammatical agreement. Syntax repetitive expressions on the syntax layer were divided into three types, depending on what is matched. One is 'matching grammar', one is 'matching word order', and the other is 'matching word order with grammar'. According to this classification, the pattern of syntactic iterative expression on the word layer and the syntax layer was presented, and the syntactic characteristics were also examined.

        한·중 연어 대조를 위한 연어 개념 구축과 범주 한정

        본 연구는 한국어 '연어'(collocation)와 중국어 '搭配'를 논의함으로써 한·중 연어 대조를 위한 연어 개념을 구축하는 데 목적을 둔다. 최근 한·중 연어 대조 연구가 활발해진 것에 비하면 한국어 연어에 상응하는 중국어 개념에 대한 이론적 논의가 많이 부족하다. 영어 'collocation'에 대하여 일반적으로 한국어에서는 연어라고, 중국어에서는 '搭配'라고 한다. 본고는 한국어 연어와 중국어 搭配에 관한 논의를 살펴봄으로써 두 가지 개념은 일치하지 않는다고 지적하였다. 그리고 搭配의 유형을 분석한 결과 特定搭配/有限组合/受限搭配/限制性搭配 등을 한국어 연어에 상응하는 개념으로 볼 수 있으며, 이 중 본고에서 주장하는 연어 판별 기준을 고려해 '特定搭配'가 가장 적합하다고 보았다. 또한 일차적으로 '의미 해석의 투명성'을, 이차적으로 '어휘 선택 제약'을 연어와 特定搭配를 판별하는 기준으로 제시하고 그들의 범주를 규정하였다. The purpose of this study was to establish the concept of collocation for the Korean-Chinese collocation contrast by discussing Korean "collocation" and Chinese "搭配". Compared to recent active studies on Korean-Chinese collocation, there is a lack of theoretical discussion on Chinese concepts corresponding to Korean collocation. This paper points out that these two concepts do not match, looking at discussions on Korean collocation and Chinese 搭配. After analyzing the type of 搭配, "特定搭配/有限组合/受限搭配/限制性搭配" can be considered as a corresponding concept to Korean collocation, among which "特定搭配" is the most appropriate one considering the collocation discrimination criteria proposed in this paper. In addition, in terms of the criteria for collocation or 特定搭配, this study proposed "meaning interpretation of transparency" as the primary criterion and "lexical selection restrictions" as the secondary standard. This study also specified their category.

        Synergistic Effects of Leflunomide and Benazepril in Streptozotocin-Induced Diabetic Nephropathy

        <P>Abstract</P><P><B><I>Background:</I></B> Leflunomide (LEF) and benazepril have renoprotective effects on diabetic nephropathy (DN) through their anti-inflammatory and anti-fibrotic activities. This study investigated whether combined treatment using LEF and benazepril affords superior protection compared with the respective monotherapies. <B><I>Methods:</I></B> Diabetes was induced with streptozotocin (STZ, 65 mg/kg) by intraperitoneal injection in male Wistar rats. Two weeks after STZ injection, diabetic rats were treated daily for 12 weeks with LEF (10 mg/kg), benazepril (10 mg/kg), or a combination of both. Basic parameters (body weight, fasting blood glucose level, and 24 h urinary protein excretion), histopathology, inflammatory [inflammatory cell infiltration (ED-1), monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1), and Toll-like receptor-2 (TLR-2)] and glomerulosclerotic factors [transforming growth factor-β<SUB>1</SUB> (TGF-β<SUB>1</SUB>) and connective tissue growth factor (CTGF)], and oxidative stress (8-hydroxy-2'-deoxyguanosine, 8-OHdG) were studied. <B><I>Results:</I></B> Benazepril or LEF treatment significantly prevented body weight loss and 24 h urinary protein excretion induced by diabetes; combined treatment with LEF and benazepril further improved these parameters compared with giving each drug alone (all p < 0.01). Increased expression of inflammatory (MCP-1 and TLR-2) and glomerulosclerotic (TGF-β<SUB>1</SUB> and CTGF) factors in diabetic rat kidney was reduced by treatment with either LEF or benazepril and was further reduced by the combined administration of the two drugs (p < 0.01). These effects were accompanied by suppression of urinary 8-OHdG excretion. There was no significant between-group difference in blood glucose level. <B><I>Conclusions:</I></B> LEF treatment lessens DN, and combined treatment with LEF and benazepril provides synergistic effects in preventing DN.</P><P>© 2014 S.       • Production of Transgenic Korean Native Cattle Expressing Enhanced Green Fluorescent Protein using a FIV-based Lentiviral Vector Injected into MII Oocytes

        The potential benefits of generating and using transgenic cattle range from im-provements in agriculture to the production of large quantities of pharmaceutically rele-vant proteins. Previous studies have attempted to produce transgenic cattle and other livestock by pronuclear injection and somatic cell nuclear transfer, but these approa-ches have been largely ineffective; however, a third approach, lentivirus-mediated trans-genesis, has successfully produced transgenic livestock. In this study, we generated transgenic (TG) Korean native cattle using perivitelline space injection of viral vectors, which expressed enhanced green fluorescent protein (EGFP) systemically. Two different types of lentiviral vectors derived from feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) carrying EGFP were injected into the perivitelline space of MII oocytes. EGFP expression at 8-cell stage was significantly higher in the FIV group compared to the HIV group (47.5±2.2% vs. 22.9±2.9%). Eight- cell embryos that expressed EGFP were cultured into blastocysts and then transferred into 40 heifers. Ten heifers were successfully impregnated and delivered 10 healthy calves. All of these calves expressed EGFP as detected by in vivo imaging, PCR and Southern blotting. In addition, we established an EGFP-expressing cell line from TG calves, which was followed by nuclear transfer (NT). Recloned 8-cell embryos also expressed EGFP, and there were no differences in the rates of fusion, cleavage and development between cells derived from TG- and non-TG calves, which were subsequently used for NT. These results illustrate that FIV-based lentiviruses are useful for the production of TG cattle. Moreover, our established EGFP cell line can be used for additional studies that involve induced pluripotent stem cells.

        Neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio as a predictor of myocardial damage and cardiac dysfunction in acute coronary syndrome patients

        Background: Neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR) in peripheral blood is established to correlate with the morbidity and mortality of heart disease patients. We aimed to define the severity of inflammation (NLR) by observing the association of NLR with cardiac functions or myocardial damage parameters in patients with acute myocardial infarction. Methods: Data from 715 patients who underwent percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) within 72 hours of incidence in 2016 were analysed retrospectively. Results: The NLR ranges from 0.50 to 46 (medium ± SD, 2.76 ± 2.96) in 715 patients. NLR positively correlated with myocardial damage (NLR vs. CK-mB: p < 0.0001) but negatively correlated with myocardial function (NLR vs. EF: p < 0.0001; NLR vs. FS: p < 0.0001). Myocardial damage markers (CK, CK-mB, ASL, LDH) were significantly increased, and cardiac contractile parameters (EF and FS) were reduced at NLR > 2.76 compared to those of NLR < 2.76. ELISA analysis has shown that IL-10 was significantly increased when NLR ≥ 4.6 and TGF-β was increased at NLR > 4. The correlation was diminished between NLR and CK-mB at NLR > 2.76 or at NLR > 4, but that of NLR and EF or FS was maintained in NLR > 2.76 and at NLR > 4. EF and FS were comparable between NLR > 2.76 and NLR > 4. But myocardial damage parameters increased significantly at NLR > 4 compared to those of NLR > 2.76. Conclusion: NLR is a strong predictor of myocardial damage in acute myocardial patients. High NLR are associated with myocardial dysfunction in all the patients. Severe inflammation (NLR) can predict the consequence of the heart in patients with coronary syndrome.
