        A successive ‘‘conversion-deposition” mechanism achieved by micro-crystalline Cu2O modified current collector for composite lithium anode

        Lithium (Li) metal is a promising material for high-energy–density batteries, but it is still plagued byobvious capacity degradation and low average Coulombic efficiency resulting from dendrite Li propagation. One main reason is the electro-mechanic coupled failure of plated Li on the current collector, whichcontributes to non-dense Li deposition on the anode. Transition metal oxides (TMOs) with a conversiontypemechanism have been used directly as the anode materials for lithium ion batteries, which demonstratedbetter electro-mechanical stability than metal Li. Herein, a successive ’’conversion-deposition’’mechanism is ingeniously developed to restrain the generation of dendritic Li. Specifically, a microcrystallineCu2O modified current collector was prepared, in which Li+ are sequentially inserted intoCu2O and deposited in the form of Li metal at successive low potential. A Li-Cu half-cell based on thehybrid mechanism sustains a high Coulombic efficiency of over 99.3 % in up to 800 cycles. This work ingeniouslyinhibits the generation of dendrite Li by incorporating conversion-type materials withdeposition-dissolution type metal Li, which contributes to a novel concept for the design of functionalcurrent collectors for composite Li anodes.

        <P>Li-O-2 batteries provide high-capacity energy storage, but for aprotic Li-O-2 batteries, it is reported that the charge-discharge efficiency is ultimately limited by the crystal growth of insoluble Li2O2 on the porous cathode. Catalysts have been reported to improve the nucleation and morphology of Li2O2, which helps achieve high energy densities. We provide a new insight into the catalytic mechanism of the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) in aprotic Li-O-2 batteries the oxygen sites on the surface play a more important role than the exposed metal sites via a study based on the density functional theory (DFT) examining alpha-MnO2 surfaces. Lithium ions from electrolytes are found to interact with the surface oxygen sites and form surface lithium sites, facilitating further growth of Li2O2. A larger number of initial growth points with uniform distribution makes Li2O2 well dispersed, forming small particles, which benefit both the ORR and oxygen evolution reactions (OER). This design concept for oxygen sites has been successfully validated by the real Li-O-2 cell experiments with alpha-MnO2 nanowire cathodes.</P>

        色彩詞約言語義世界中琉麗班爛的色彩反映剡語言中來, 形成了豊富的色彩詞. 乷려在支藝作品中具有形象生動, 意蘿多變的藝術賤力是不言而喩的. 但是, 想要眞正領悟作者遺詞造句的匠心所在, 就頭準確地杷擺作品中色彩詞約言語義.人類초觀色彩感知與外部客觀色彩世界之間關係的討論-直是知談界所關心的問題. 隨着科學的進步和跨學科耐究方式的導入, 對于◎彩詞的硏討方式也擴展爲人類學, 社會學, 民族學, 語言學, 心理學. 乃至遺博學意義上的科學硏究. 進70年代以來, 對于基本顔숟詞的跨文化硏究也取得了衆所驟目 的成就.本文試就文藝作品中色彩訓(以白色, 黑色, 藍色, 緣色, 黃色爲主)言語義特點, 類瑩, 形成原麗(着重于文化差異)等問題作-番粗淺的探討, 爲文學創作和審美鑑賞提供-點參考 1. 色彩詞的言語義的特點斯謂色彩詞的言語義, 指色彩詞在具體的語言環境中臨時具有的某種含意, 一旦離關7具體約語言環境, 色彩詞鈞言語義也就不複存在了. 一般說來, 色彩詞的言譜義不再是對客觀事物約圈者色彩的客觀反映, 而是隱着具 體的語言環境發生相應的찻化. 色彩詞約言語義的特點. 可歸納爲模糊性, 主溫性和變勳性.具體說來, 1)模湖性指的是, 自然語言所具備的模糊屬性由模糊語言和模糊語義來體猊. 作爲客觀事物色彩信息載休的色彩詞, 在具體約語言環境中其意義本身不確定, 便造成了色彩詞的言語義的模湖性. 2)主觀性, 毫無疑閣,色彩是客觀的. 卽, 定具有客觀事物所具有約客觀色彩屬性.但是,有時爲7表情達義的需要, 作者可以完全突破客觀事物本來色彩約限制, 臨時珷與客觀事物-種全新的色彩, 或者讓沒有色彩約事物具有色彩. 3)變勳性, 所謂變動性, 指色彩詞約言語義在不間的語言環境中處于時常變動約狀態,卽阿一부色形詞柱不間的語言環境中具有決然不同的意羲. 2. 色彩詞的言語義的類型 1)色彩詞所代表的是這種色彩的客說事物. 這種숟彩詞的顔色屬性總是들具體的事物連業在」起, 合爲一體的. 2)色彩詞表達某種特定的情感. 色彩詞具有激起人聃情感和情緖約獨特功能, 在特定約語境中作爲某種情感約裁體而存在. 3)色彩詞具有瀉時的象織意義. 人們的社會垈活.是複雜딘變的. 極其有繼的凡十個色彩約象徵羨是遠遠不能滿足人們表達豊富多彩的社會生活約需求.所以, 在具體約語言環境中, 人們往往臨時賦與色彩詞以某種特殊的象徵意義. 3. 촌彩詞的言語義的生成原因文化差異色彩是以視覺爲基礎的. 因此, 對色彩的理解應以色彩感覺爲主, 而不應以人洌約慣習爲主. 但是, 在大多數情況下, 却是完全相反飾. 比如說, 當我們看到一수人頭上渽着一束百花, 抛去任何約定俗成約見解客觀池去看詹,入們可能을說, "干淨, 淸純" 但是, 中圍人彧韓圈入却立刻聯想到"頭戮白花, 他家肯定有릇 彧者"頭載白花, 眞不吉째' 如此等等, 說明河屬同-文化圈的人群由於"豹定俗成的飄念, 在認知色彩時, 常常表努出其獨特的文化特色. 又ft加, 在修飾諜言時, 韓靈人常訓路로, 而英美人却텨'白튿저限定修飾, 分別說成 '色言'전"白色的講글. 這是因爲, 歐美文化圈中白色通常被認爲是不開化或非成熟約象徵, 而韓國人認爲白色是最聖潔 他們財汚染白色的紅色持有-定約成見. 槪括來分析, 作者讀.我, 不河的民族風俗和信仰, 不問的社會政治制度和時代崇尙心理, 以及不間約思想次化傳統均影辯等這一切文化差異淏딘沿詞不同約言語義的生成原騷.

        Evidence for the medicinal value of Squama Manitis (pangolin scale): A systematic review

        Background: Squama Manitis (pangolin scale) has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for thousands of years. However, its efficacy has not been systematically reviewed. This review aims to fill the gap. Methods: We searched six electronic databases including PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, China National Knowledge Infrastructure Database (CNKI), WanFang Database and SinoMed from inception to May 1, 2020. Search terms included “pangolin”, “Squama Manitis”, “Manis crassicaudata”, “Manis javanica”, “Malayan pangolins”, “Manis pentadactyla”, “Ling Li”, “Chuan Shan Jia”, “Shan Jia”, “Pao Jia Zhu”, “Jia Pian” and “Pao Shan Jia”. The Cochrane Risk of Bias (RoB) assessment tool and Newcastle-Ottawa Scale (NOS) were used to evaluate the risk of bias of the included randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and case control studies (CCSs). Results: After screening, 15 articles that met the inclusion criteria were finally included. There were 4 randomized controlled trials, 1 case control study, 3 case series and 7 case reports. A total of 15 different diseases were reported in these studies, thus the data could not be merged to generate powerful results. Two RCTs suggested that Squama Manitis combined with herbal decoction or antibiotics could bring additional benifit for treating postpartum hypogalactia and mesenteric lymphadenitis. However, this result was not reliable due to low methodological quality and irrational outcomes. The other two RCTs generated negative results. All the non-RCTs did not add any valuable evidence to the efficacy of Squama Manitis beacause of small samples, incomplete records, non-standardized outcome detection. In general, currently available evidence cannot support the clinical use of Squama Manitis. Conclusion: There is no reliable evidence that Squama Manitis has special medicinal value. The removal of Squama Manitis from Pharmacopoeia is rational.

      • Inhibition of α-glucosidase by 2-thiobarbituric acid: Molecular dynamics simulation integrating parabolic noncompetitive inhibition kinetics

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>The phenomenon of α-glucosidase inhibition has attracted the attention of researchers due to its association with type 2 diabetes treatment in humans. In this study, we found that 2-thiobarbituric acid (TBA) induces complex inhibition of α-glucosidase using kinetics tests and molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. Computational MD and docking simulations demonstrate that TBA interacts with three residues on active sites of α-glucosidase such as Met69, Arg212, and His348. These biochemical tests indicate that TBA reversibly inhibits α-glucosidase in a parabolic noncompetitive manner (<I>IC</I> <SUB>50</SUB> =17.13±1.14mM; <I>K</I> <SUB>i</SUB> =13.25±0.56mM) and that this inhibition is accompanied by a biphasic kinetic process. The tertiary conformational changes were not synchronized with TBA inhibition but we observed hydrophobic disruption after inactivation at higher concentrations of TBA.       • Rational design of common transition metal-nitrogen-carbon catalysts for oxygen reduction reaction in fuel cells

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Bio-inspired non-precious-metal catalysts based on iron and cobalt porphyrins are promising alternatives to replace costly platinum-based catalysts for oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) in fuel cells. However, the exact nature of the active sites is still not clearly understood, and further optimization design is needed for practical applications. Here, we report a rational catalyst design process by combining density functional theory (DFT) calculations and experimental validations. Two sets of square-planar (MN<SUB>x</SUB>C<SUB>4−x</SUB>) and square-pyramid (MN<SUB>x</SUB>C<SUB>5−x</SUB>) active centers (M=Mn, Fe, Co, Ni) incorporated in graphene were examined using DFT. Fe-N<SUB>5</SUB> and Co-N<SUB>4</SUB> sites were identified theoretically to have the best performance in fuel cells, while Ni-N<SUB>x</SUB>C<SUB>4−x</SUB> sites catalyze the most H<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>2</SUB> byproduct. Graphene samples with well-dispersed incorporations of metals were synthesized, and the following electrochemical measurements show an excellent agreement with the theoretical predictions, indicating that a successful design framework and systematic understanding toward the catalytic nature of these materials are established.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Graphene based catalysts design for ORR is demonstrated by combining experiments and modellings. </LI> <LI> Iron porphyrin like active site is unraveled to be five nitrogen coordinated as FeN<SUB>5</SUB>. </LI> <LI> Cobalt porphyrin like active site is shown to be four nitrogen coordinated as CoN<SUB>4</SUB>. </LI> <LI> Nickel porphyrin like catalyst is potentially used for catalytic synthesis of H<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>2</SUB>. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

        Corroded pipeline failure analysis using artificial neural network scheme

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Corrosion defects occur very often on the internal and external surfaces of pipelines, which may result in a serious threat to the integrity of the pipelines. Numerous studies investigated failure behavior of corroded pipelines with single corrosion defects. However, few studies focus on interacting corrosion defects. Interacting defects are defined as defects with certain proximity that interact to reduce the overall strength of a pipeline. In the present study, the failure behavior of pipelines with interacting corrosion defects was studied using a finite element method, and then a solution was proposed to predict burst pressure using an artificial neural network. The solution was validated by experimental results in previous studies and compared with other existing assessment solutions to prove its applicability and efficiency.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> The failure behavior of pipelines with interacting corrosion defects was studied using FE method. </LI> <LI> A series of models were created for the sensitive study of the various parameters. </LI> <LI> A solution was proposed to predict burst pressure using an artificial neural network (ANN). </LI> <LI> The solution was validated by comparing with experimental results and existing codes. </LI> </UL> </P>
