The Influence of a Second Metal on the Ni/SiC Catalyst for the Methanation of Syngas

The catalytic performance of silicon carbide supported nickel catalysts modified with or without secondmetal (Co, Cu and Zn) for the methanation of CO has been investigated in a fixed-bed reactor using a feed consisting of25% CO and 75% H2 without any diluent gas. It has been found that the introduction of Co species can clearly improvethe catalytic activity of Ni/SiC catalyst, whereas the addition of Cu or Zn can result in a significant decrease in the catalyticactivity. The characterizations by means of XRD, TEM, XPS, CO-TPD and H2-TPR indicate that the addition ofCo could decrease the particle size of active metal, increase active sites on the surface of methanation catalyst, improvethe chemisorption of CO and enhance the reducibility of methanation catalysts. Additionally, the special interaction betweenCo species and Ni species is likely favorable for the dissociation of adsorbed CO on the surface of catalyst, and this mayalso contribute to the high activity of 5Co-Ni/SiC catalyst for CO methanation reaction. For 5Cu-Ni/SiC catalyst and 5Zn-Ni/SiC catalyst, Cu and Zn species could cover partial nickel particles and decrease the chemisorption amount of CO. These could be responsible for the low methanation activity. In addition, a 150h stability test under 2 MPa and 300 oCshowed that 5Co-Ni/SiC catalyst was very stable for CO methanation reaction.

The Heuristic Algorithm of Wavelet Image Denoising Based on Rough Set

In this paper, we propose a novel approach to explore image denoising for patch based image process. The importance measurement model of Rough Entropy and the importance reduction method of wavelet coefficients are given. This paper combines the rough set theory with the denoising method of wavelet threshold, regarding the high-frequency information blocks in the transform domain as similar ones, and adopting importance Reduction Methods to contract the coefficients. The simulation results show that this method is effective.

<P>Hepatitis C virus (HCV) is the major causative agent of chronic hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma, and can be involved in very long chronic infections up to 30 years or more. Therefore, it has been speculated that HCV possesses mechanisms capable of modulating host defense systems such as innate and adaptive immunity. To investigate this virus-host interaction, we generated HCV replicons containing various HCV structural proteins and then analyzed the sensitivity of replicon-containing cells to the apoptosis-inducing agent, TRAIL. TRAIL-induced apoptosis was monitored by cleavage of procaspase-3 and procaspase-9 as well as that of their substrate poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase. TRAIL-induced apoptosis was inhibited in cells expressing HCV E2. Moreover, expression of HCV E2 enhanced the colony forming efficiency of replicon-containing cells by 25-fold. Blockage of apoptosis by E2 seems to be related to inhibition of TRAIL-induced cytochrome c release from the mitochondria. Based on these results, we propose that E2 augments persistent HCV infection by blocking host-induced apoptosis of infected cells.</P>

이 글은 뉴스 정보를 통해, 다른 문화를 ‘안다’는 것과, 우리 자신과의 관계에 대해 생각해 보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 네이버 뉴스의 베트남 관련 정보를 살펴 본 결과, 우선 미디어를 통해 전해지는 베트남의 모습은 우리의 시각이 중심이 된 편향성, 사실을 충분히 반영하지 못하는 부실함과 함께 상충되는 정보가 공존하고 있음을 보여줌으로써 객관적 사실을 전달한다고 하는 뉴스 정보의 한계를 보여주고 있었다. 그러나 정보를 통해서밖에 다른 문화에 대한 이해를 도모할 수 없다는 우리의 입장을 고려할 때, 이와 같은 정보의 한계는 미디어에 대한 책임뿐 아니라 정보에 대한 수용자의 신중함 역시 필요함을 보여주고 있다고 할 수 있다. 또한 정보 발신자와 수용자의 역할 구분이 사라져가고 있는 지금, 이 글을 통해 살펴본 정보의 한계는, 자신이 알고 있는 것에 대해서도 객관성과 사실 여부를 의심해 볼 수 있어야 함을 보여준다. 결국 다문화와의 공생, 그를 위한 다양한 문화에 대한 이해란, 나 자신이 문제 해결의 중심에 있다는 자각과 함께, 내가 알고 있는 것들에 대한 겸손을 터득해가는 과정이라 할 수 있을 것이다. This article is an attempt to understand the relationship between knowing others, coexistence with them and ‘me’. Especially this article focused on Vietnam(ese) as portrayed by news media. This study shows the information about Vietnam(ese) is not only lopsided but also very ‘we’-centred. This study also shows even coexistence of conflicting information. These results shows that the information could not be the objective fact. But we can get the understanding of other cultures only through the information so we need to check for misinformation because the one who put meaning to information is a information user. In addition, the role of the distinction between information senders and receivers are disappearing now, so we also need to doubt our own knowledge is a real fact or not. The way to live together with ‘other cultures’ is to take the our own responsibility and to be humble about our own knowledge.

<주봉전>의 <서유기(西遊記)> 수용 양상과 그 의미 -‘현장(玄奘)의 복수 이야기’와의 비교를 중심으로

본고에서는 <주봉전>이 <서유기> 소재 ‘현장(玄奘)의 복수 이야기’와 여러모로 유사하다는 점에 착안하여 비교문학적인 고찰을 함으로써 <주봉전>의 <서유기> 수용 양상을 밝히고 그에 따른 의미를 탐구하였다. 우선 구성적 서사와 세부적 서사에 걸쳐 비교 검토를 진행하였다. 첫째는, 두 이야기의 구성적인 측면을 비교함으로써 <주봉전>의 갈등구조 및 플롯이 ‘현장의 복수 이야기’로부터 원용(援用)되었음을 추론하였다. 둘째는, 두 이야기에 활용된 구출과 환생(還生) 모티프를 검토함으로써 <주봉전>에서의 ‘옥염의 구출과 환생’은 ‘현장의 복수 이야기’에서의 ‘진광예(陳光蕊)의 구출과 환생’으로부터 유래하되, 그 창조적인 전용(轉用)의 결과물임을 입증하였다. 셋째는, <주봉전>이 ‘현장의 복수 이야기’로부터 ‘발가락 자르기’라는 특징적인 모티프를 수용(受容)하고 있음을 고찰하였다. 한편 <주봉전>의 <서유기> 수용이 지니는 의미는 두 가지로 논의되었다. 그 하나는 <주봉전>이 환상 서사인 <서유기>를 수용함으로써 독특한 복수서사의 구현이 이루어졌다는 점이다. 다른 하나는 <주봉전>이 <서유기> 소재 ‘현장의 복수 이야기’로부터 그 구출과 환생 모티프를 변용(變容)함으로써 ‘충절(忠節)’의 이념적 선양(宣揚)이라는 작품의 의미 지향을 부각시켰다는 점이다. 이상의 고찰을 통해 본고에서는 <주봉전>이 중국 신마소설(神魔小說)의 대표작인 <서유기>와 다방면에 걸쳐 관련을 맺고 있는 양상을 확인하였다. 한편 <주봉전>이 기존 서사인 <서유기>를 수용하면서도 그 독자적인 의미를 구축하고 있다는 사실도 알 수 있었다. The study examines the relationship between Joobongjeon and Journey to the West under the assumption of a correlation between the two. Considerations on aspects of comparative literature started with findings of a similarity between Joobongjeon and the episode on revenge of Xuánzàng from Journey to the West, to explore these similarities in depth, acceptance patterns and meaning have been studied. To begin with, the paper analyzes similarities from aspects of plot and motif. First, the narratives structural resemblance infers that Joobongjeon cited the concept of revenge specifically from the episode, revenge of Xuánzàng from Journey to the West. Secondly, reviewing the motif of reincarnation in the two pieces of work reveals that the reincarnation of Ok-yeom in Joobongjeon took inspiration from the reincarnation of Jinkwangye(陳光蕊) in the chapter however with Joobongjeon’s slight alterations, interpreted and used the concept in an ingenious and novel manner. Thirdly, the study states that Joobongjeon accepted and referred to the motif of cutting toes in the episode of Journey to the West. Furthermore, the meaning of acceptance of Journey to the West in Joobongjeon is discussed in two perspectives. Joobongjeon adopted the concept of oriental fantasies illustrated in the Journey to the West to build unique narration on revenge. In addition, Joobongjeon diverted the motif of reincarnation from the episode to underline the thematic meaning behind the work, ideological loyalty. In conclusion, the study confirms numerous acceptance patterns of Journey to the West, the most well-known examples of Shenmo novels(神魔小說), in Joobongjeon. It accepted and adopted the concept of the existing narration of Journey to the West, but at the same time, constructed a unique meaning behind the narrative.

문화의 유통은 결국 커뮤니케이션이라 할 수 있다. 전달하고자 하는 메시지에 보다 가까운 해석을 유도할 수 있을 때 우리는 문화상품을 다른 문화 속에 유통시킬 수 있게 된다. 그리고 그러한 해석을 유도해 낼 수 있는 것이 바로 표상의 활용이다. 이처럼 문화에 대한 표상적 접근은 문화 ‘해석’의 근접성에 기인한 ‘아시아에서의 한류’에서 더 나아가, 문화 유사성이 보다 적은 서구문화에서도 한류를 불러 일으킬 수 있는 힌트를 제공할 수 있을 것이다. 이제까지 베트남에서의 한류는, 문화적 관점의 경우, 양국의 유교 문화 공유 경험만으로 설명되어 온 경향이 있다. 그러나 문화라는 것의 다양성을 생각할 때, 유교문화의 공유 경험이라는 ‘표면적 유사성’만으로는 베트남에서의 한류를 설명하는 데 한계가 있다. 따라서 이 글에서는 한국 드라마가 베트남에 ‘수용’될 수 있었던 문화적 이유를 유교 문화가 아닌 ‘표상’이라는 시점에서 살펴보고자 한다. It would seem to be a sort of communication to introduce one culture into another culture. The most important thing is to guide them to ‘read’ in ‘right’ way when people introduce their own culture to other cultures. In other words, we need to guide people to read our messages. It makes easier to introduce our culture to them without antipathy. Symbol is one of the best ways that induces people to read rightly other cultures. Symbol has various messages according to the cultural background. So understanding symbol gives us good ideas to spread the Korean Wave into the western cultures, not confined to Asian cultures having similar background with Korea. Until now, we’ve only been explaining the Korean Wave in Vietnam as the Confucianism. Of course Vietnam had been influenced by the Confucianism for a long time as Korea did. But the culture is not a simple thing. It can be read differently even it has the same origin. So it is not enough to explain the Korean Wave in Vietnam by influence of Confucianism only. It is just a superficial similarity. So I used the way of symbolic analysis of the Korean Wave in Vietnam.
