      • 비강 및 비인두에 발생한 도립유두종과 편평상피암종의 p53단백 및 세포증식능에 관한 연구

        The inverted papilloma and squamous cell carcinoma are common neoplasia in the sinonasal cavity and nasopharynx, but the incidence of these tumors are very low and the study on the oncogenesis or biological activity of the tumor cells are not well known. This study was designed to evaluate the oncogenic roles of the p53 gene and the proliferative activity of the tumor cells in the inflammatory polyp, inverted papilloma and squamous cell carcinoma. The experiment was carried by the immunohistochemical stains about the p53 protein, PCNA and Ki-67, histochemical stain about the AgNORs. and flow cytometric analysis about the DNA ploidy using the formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissues. The frequency of the expression of p53 protein was 0%(0/16 cases) in the inflammatory polyps, 18.8% (3/16 cases) in the inverted papillomas, and 87.5%(14/16 cases) in the squamous cell carcinomas. The labelling index(%) of the PCNA and Ki-67 was 5.3% and 3.3% in the inflammatoy polyps, 29.6% and 25.2% in the inverted papillomas, and 51.9% and 36.8% in the squamous cell carcinoma. The expression of the PCNA and Ki-67 was distributed in the periphery of the tumor islands of the inverted papilloma and was distributed in the both of center and periphery of the tumor islands of the squamous cell carcinoma. The number of nuclear AgNORs was increased in the order of inflammatory polyps (0.96), inverted papillomas(1.34) and squamous cell carcinoma(2.09). The frequency of the DNA aneuploidy was 0%(0/16 cases) in the inflammatory polyps, 18.8%(3/16 cases) in the inverted papillomas. and 12.5%(2/16 cases) in the squamous cell carcinomas. Above results indicates that the changes of the p53 gene and proliferative activity of the tumor cells are involved on the oncogenesis and the biological activity of the inverted papilloma or squamous cell carcinoma in the nasopharynx and sinonasa cavity.

        BMB Reports : Connexin32 inhibits gastric carcinogenesis through cell cycle arrest and altered expression of p21^Cip1 and p27^Kip1

        Gap junctions and their structural proteins, connexins (Cxs), have been implicated in carcinogenesis. To explore the involvement of Cx32 in gastric carcinogenesis, immunochemical analysis of Cx32 and proliferation marker Ki67 using tissue-microarrayed human gastric cancer and normal tissues was performed. In addition, after Cx32 overexpression in the human gastric cancer cell line AGS, cell proliferation, cell cycle analyses, and p21^Cip1 and p27^Kip1 expression levels were examined by bromodeoxyuridine assay, flow cytometry, real-time RT-PCR, and western blotting. Immunohistochemical study noted a strong inverse correlation between Cx32 and Ki67 expression pattern as well as their location. In vitro, overexpression of Cx32 in AGS cells inhibited cell proliferation significantly. G1 arrest, up-regulation of cell cycle-regulatory proteins p21^Cip1 and p27^Kip1 was also found at both mRNA and protein levels. Taken together, Cx32 plays some roles in gastric cancer development by inhibiting gastric cancer cell proliferation through cell cycle arrest and cell cycle regulatory proteins.         Background : In recent years, gonorrhea has been panedemic and remains one of the most commom STDs in the world, especially in developing countries. Objective & Methods: For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of PPNG, we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the VD Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by means of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. Results: In 1996, 139 strains of N. gonorrhoeae were isolated, among which 53(39.0%) were PPNG. Conclusion: Our results suggests that after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, the prevalence of PPNG in Seoul is gradually declining.

        Swirling and Tumbling motion in the cylinder of a DOHC engine is important factors in increasing turbulence intensity and promoting combustion. However, knowledge on its generation and control remains incomplete up to now, because there is no satisfactory technique for quantifying the phenomena. The purpose of this study was to develop analytic tools which will lead to better understanding of the swirling and tumbling motion. In this research, the impulse swirl/tumble meter was developed to measure swirl/tumble ratio and air mass flow rate under steady flow conditions. Hot-wire anemometer was used to estimate the accuracy of impulse meter. These analytic tools were adopted to clarify the swirl and tumble flow characteristics generated by different intake port and SCV configurations. An analysis of these experimental result revealed a design guide for the intake port and SCV configurations required to enhance swirl and tumble flow.

        부가적 산부식 시간에 따른 자가 산부식 접착제의 법랑질 전단결합강도

        이 연구의 목적은 유치와 영구치의 법랑질에 자가 산부식 접착제 적용 전 부가적인 산부식 시간을 달리 하였을 때, 전단결합강도에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위함이다. 각각 65개의 발거된 건전한 유치와 영구치 협, 설면 법랑질 시편을 제작하고 두 종류의 자가 산부식 접착제를 적용하였다. 실험군은 Clearfil SE bond, Adper Prompt L-pop으로 처리한 두 개 군으로 나누고, 이를 다시 산부식 시간에 따라 여섯 군(0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 30초)으로 분류하였다. 대조군으로는 total-etching system인 Multi-purpose plus를 사용하였다. 접착제 처리면을 복합레진으로 충전하고 24시간 경과 후 전단결합강도를 측정하고 Mann-Whitney test와 Kruskal-Wallis test를 사용하여 통계분석 하였다. 결과는 자가 산부식 접착제를 적용한 군은 유치, 영구치 모두에서 total etching system에 비해 낮은 전단 결합강도를 보였다. 자가 산부식 접착제 사용 군내에서 산부식을 추가로 시행하였을 때 유치와 영구치 모두에서 결합강도가 증가하였으며, 10초 이상 산부식을 시행한 경우 결합력의 차이는 없는 것으로 나타났다. 유치와 영구치간 결합력의 차이는 인정되지 않았다. 결론적으로, 자가 산부식 접착제의 법랑질에 대한 전단결합강도는 유치, 영구치 모두에서 10초 이상의 부가적 산부식이 결합력의 증가에 유리하게 작용하는 것으로 나타났다. The aim of this study was to evaluate the bonding ability of two self etch systems to human primary and permanent enamel and the effect of additional acid etching time. Exfoliated, caries free human primary molar(n=65) and permanent molar extracted (n=65) were used. prepared enamel specimens were randomly divided into 2 test groups and a control group. The control group(n=10) were treated with 35% phosphoric acid gel and Scotchbond Multi-purpose adhesive. Experimental groups(self-etching systems) were subdivided into 6 groups(each n=10) according to additional etching time(0s, 5s, 10s, 15s, 20s, 30s). The result were as follows : 1) The shear bond strengths of the self-etching adhesives(Clearfil SE Bond, Adper Prompt L-pop) without additional etching were lower than control group(Scotch Bond Multipurpose). 2) Between the same self-etch adhesive groups, additional etched groups showed higher shear bond strength 3) There was no significant difference between primary and permanent enamel. In conclusion, bond strength of self-etch adhesives to enamel could be increased with additional etching.

        The heat transfer mechanism initiating the friction welding is examined and a transient three dimensional heat conduction model for the welding of two dissimilar cylindrical metal bars is investigated. The cylindrical metal bars are made of materials made of A2024 and SM45C. Numerical simulations of heat flow are performed using the finite volume method. Respectively, Commercial FLUENT code is used in the heat flow simulation and maximum temperature and distribution of temperature are calculated. Temperature of friction welded joining face is compared with the temperature distribution measured by experiment and numerical simulation. The maximum temperature of friction welded joining face is lower than melting point of A2024-T6 aluminum alloy using insert metal. The temperature distribution of friction welded joining face with insert metal is more uniform than that of without insert metal

        시각장애인용 음성합성기에 대한 사용자 요구분석

        본 연구의 목적은 시각장애인용 보조기기인 스크린리더에 사용되는 음성합성기에 대한 사용자의 요구분석 사항을 파악하여 고품질의 합성음을 개발하여 멀티미디어 환경 내에서 시각 장애인들의 지식정보 접근성을 높이고, 스크린리더 등의 전용 프로그램의 기능을 보완 ·강화하여 교육 및 사회 참여의 기회를 확대하여 전반적인 삶의 질을 향상하는데 있다. 컴퓨터와 스크린 리더의 사용에 익숙한 총 다섯 명의 참가자가 본 연구를 위한 핵심집단 면담연구에 참여했으며, 참가자의 요구분석 내용들은 상향식 접근방법(bottom-up approach)을 통하여 분석되었다. 시각장애인들의 음성합성기에 대한 요구분석들을 분석한 결과, (1) 청취 시의 피로도 개선, (2) 합성음의 명료도 개선, (3) 자연스러운 합성음에 대한 요구, (4) 남성 음색의 합성음에 대한 요구, (5) 잡음 발생 최소화, (6) 포네틱(phonetic) 기능에 대한 요구, (7) 정보유형에 따른 차별화된 속도 제공 등의 요구를 파악할 수 있었다. 이러한 결과에 근거하여 다양한 남성 음색의 명료하고 자연스러운 음성합성기를 개발하고, 이에 대한 시각장애인들의 장기간에 걸친 사용성 및 만족도를 평가하는 후속 연구가 요구된다. The purpose of this study was to examine usability and needs for speech synthesizer used in a screen reader which is an assistive technology device for the blind in order to (1) improve web accessibility in multimedia environment, (2) enhance the quality of a screen reader, (3) expand educational and vocational opportunities, and (4) improve the overall quality of life for the blind. Participants were five individuals (three men and two women) who were blind between the ages of thirty five to forty nine years old, and all of them were good at using computers, keyboards, and screen reader programs. After each participant was participated in the nonsense-word dictation task and the sentence listening task presented at two different speeds, they were engaged in a focus group interview to examine their preferences, needs, interests, and other opinions regarding the synthesized speech. The results of this study were analyzed into following categories using a bottom-up approach. Participants’ needs for the speech synthesizer were (1) reduction of fatigue while listening synthesized speech for a long time, (2) improvement of the intelligibility of the synthesized speech, (3) use of natural and comfortable synthesized speech, (4) use of low tone of voice (male voice tone), (5) removal of background noises or high-frequency noises, (6) addition of the phonetic reading function, and (7) differentiated speed of synthesized speech based on the type of information. The first priority of the speech synthesizer users’ was to minimize fatigue level while listening a synthesized speech. Further research needs to be directed to examine usability and needs for the updated speech synthesizer through a long-term usability testing.

        A 10-year-old spayed female dog with history of persistent nasal discharge and halitosis was presented. In oral examination, there were severe dental calculi and gingivitis. The radiographic imaging showed lesions of left nasal cavity and periodontal membrane. In computed tomographic imaging, there are increased density of left nasal cavity, loss of nasal concha and partial defect of nasal septum. Many inflammatory cells were observed in nasal cytology. The result of culture from nasal smear was negative. All these findings result in rhinitis by dental calculi and gingivitis. The dog got improved after scaling, tooth extraction, and medical treatment.

      • Ⅲ-Ⅴ족 반도체의 연구 : GaAs의 합성, 단결성 및 특성 Crystal Growth and Characterization of GaAs

        Temperature of 618 and 1250℃ at As and Ga sities respectively in the horizontal Bridgman furnace and growht speed of 0.7cm/h were found to be optimal for the production of single crystalline GaAs. Self-seeded and unintentionally doped GaAs crystals showd n-type characteristics with Hall mobillity of ∼0.75㎡/V-sec and carrier density of ∼10^19 m^-3 when the mesurements were made right after the growth. About three month later it was found that the same samples were converted to p-type GaAs. The analysis on the p-type sample showed that impurity scattering is dominant at around room temperature and thus the measured Hall mobility was 0.0065㎡/V-sec at 300K. 7.4±0.6 eV was obtained for acoustic deformation potential in the heavy hole band by fitting the theoretical conductivity and Hall coefficient to the corresponding experimental data. The value is very much higher than the theoretically estimated value, 3.6eV. The carrier density variation with temperature obtained from the present analysis gave 0.38 and 0.17 eV respectively for the activation energies of donor and acceptor.
