This study was made to find out the relationship between the body mass index (BMI) and food habit among 68 male and 304 female college students. A self-report questionnaire was used about the height, weight and food habit. The summary of the results are as follows : The average age of the male subjects is 20.52, female subjects is 19.64. Almost all of the subjects were in the criteria of standard weight group and low weight group. However female subjects regard themselves more obese than their actual body shape and male subjects regard themselves more thinner than their actual constitution. Almost of the subjects were lack of exercise and the correlation between BMI, regular exercise and regular eating was significant. Food habit score was within the category of Fair or Poor group. All the male and female subjects have highest score in green-yellow vegetables intake and the lowest score in seaweeds intake. Therefore nutrition education for the desirable dietary life management of college students should be carried out with respect to the correct perception of ideal body shape and actual self body shape and the adequate weight control diet.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the preparation method on CeO2-promoted Cu/γ -Al2O3 catalysts for the high temperature shift reaction using simulated waste-derived syngas (H2 + CO). To investigate the effect of preparation method on the CeO2-promoted Cu/γ-Al2O3 catalyst, we compared catalytic performance over Ce/Cu/γ-Al2O3, Ce-Cu/γ-Al2O3, Cu/Ce/γ-Al2O3, and Cu/γ-Al2O3 catalysts, and tried to explain the differences in catalytic performance with various characterization methods. The physico-chemical properties of the CeO2-promoted catalysts were characterized using surface spectroscopies such as BET, XRD, TPR, XPS, Raman spectroscopy, photoluminescence spectroscopy, and N2O-chemisorption. The catalyst characterizations were correlated with activity results in the high temperature shift reaction.

H3N8 equine influenza virus (EIV) causes respiratory diseases in the horse population, and it has been demonstrated that EIV can transmit into dogs owing to its availability on receptors of canine respiratory epithelial cells. Recently, we isolated H3N8 EIV from an EIV-vaccinated horse that showed symptoms of respiratory disease, and which has a partially truncated nonstructural gene (NS). However, it is not clear that the NS-truncated EIV has an ability to cross the host species barrier from horses to dogs as well. Here, we experimentally infected the NS-truncated H3N8 EIV into dogs, and monitored their clinical signs and viral load in respiratory organs to determine the virus``s transmissibility.

Magnetite (Fe3O4) has been prepared directly to avoid the reduction process prior to the H2 production from the high temperature water gas shift reaction of the simulated waste derived synthesis gas. Citric acid has been employed as a complexing agent for the direct synthesis of magnetite. Notably, without the reduction process, the catalyst prepared at the citric acid molar ratio of 1.0 showed 80% CO conversion at 350℃ at a gas hourly space velocity of 40,057 h-1.

The purpose of this study was to prepare directly the magnetite of spinel ferrite catalysts using glycine assisted sol-gel combustion method and to compare the catalytic activity of Ni, Co, Mn, Mg, and Zn substituted spinel ferrite catalysts for the high temperature shift reaction (HTS). Selected metal ions (Ni, Co, Mn, Mg, and Zn) were introduced into iron oxide (spinel lattice) and the resulting materials screened for catalytic performance for the HTS reaction using waste-derived synthesis gas. The active phase of spinel ferrite catalysts was directly prepared by the glycine assisted sol-gel combustion method under a reducing atmosphere. Among the synthesized catalysts, NiFe2O4 catalyst exhibited the highest CO conversion (XCO = 81%) with long term stability even at a very high gas hourly space velocity of 40,057h-1. This result was mainly due to the inverse spinel structure and easier reducibility of NiFe2O4 catalyst. The properties of metal ferrite spinel have been analyzed by Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) method, X-raydiffraction (XRD), and temperature programmed reduction (TPR).
