Patients with a poor or total absence of levator function require correction of their ptosis by a sling procedure. The aim of the procedure is to utilize the action of the frontalis muscle to mechanically raise a droopy eyelid Frontalis suspension procedure using a temporalis fascia or Tutoplast Dura was performed on 36 ptotic eyelids of 23 patients(age range 2-37 years) with a poor or absent levator function. The author used a surgical technique based on a modified Fox`s method. Satisfactory results were achieved in 42 lids according to the criteria of Jordan after an average follow-up of 23 months. No serious complication was seen immediately postoperative and during the follow-up period. Temporalis fascia and Tutoplast Dura appear to be effective and safe alternative sling materials for frontalis suspension surgery.

The study is designed to discover the relation between the level of satisfaction and motive of in-line skating interest group members. 500 people who live in Gangneung at present(2004) are the object of the study. The actual number of the people who participated in the research is 498, however, only 488 people's answers were taken as valid data in accordance with some irrelevant answers. Data was coded according to coding instructions and applied into the computer to be analyzed by Descriptive analysis, one way ANOVA, Correlation and Standard multiple regression by SPSS 10.0 windows version according to their aims of analysis. The result of analysis is described as follow: First, The types of participation and the motive are inter-related with each other closely. Second, the types of participation and the level of satisfaction of members have impact on each other.

Primary unruptured appendiceal mucocele is a rare disease. It is very difficult to diagnose preoperatively because of the rarity of classical symptoms and low incidence. Usually it is discovered incidentally during abdominal ultrasonography(US), computed tomography(CT), or appendectomy for acute appendicitis. If untreated, one type of mucoceles may rupture producing a potentially fatal entity known as pseudomyxoma peritonei, therefore preoperative diagnosis is very important. With the advent of colonoscopy, abdominal US and CT, it has been possible to preoperatively diagnose mucocele of appendix. We experienced a case of appendiceal mucocele in a 60 year-old woman who had symptoms of lower abdominal discomfort and right lower quadrant abdominal pain, and it was diagnosed preoperatively by colonoscopy, abdominal US and CT. So we present this case with review of literature.

本論文은 콤濾波器와 複素레소네이터를 사용한 디지탈 濾波器의 設計方法을 제시하고, 콤퓨터 시뮬레이션에 의하여 그 특성을 확인하였다. 設計法에 있어서는 濾波器特性의 주로우브와 사이드로우브 관계를 도입하였고, 이 設計法에서는 콤濾波器의 零과 複素레소네이터의 極이 상쇄되어 이 濾波器 構成 素子인 지연소자 수가 줄어들어 경제적으로 된다는 것을 보여주었다.

The aim of this research was to estimate the effect of temperature and develop predictive models for the growth of total viable cells (TVC) and Escherichia coli (EC) on chicken breast under aerobic and various temperature conditions. The primary models were determined by Baranyi model. The secondary models for the specific growth rate (SGR) and lag time (LT), as a function of storage temperature, were developed by the polynomial model. The initial contamination level of chicken breasts was around 4.3 Log CFU/g of TVC and 1.0 Log CFU/g of E. coli. During 216 h of storage, SGR of TVC showed 0.05, 0.15, and 0.54 Log CFU/g/h at 5, 15, and 25℃. Also, the growth tendency of EC was similar to those of TVC. As storage temperature increased, the values of SGR of microorganisms increased dramatically and the values of LT decreased inversely. The predicted growth models with experimental data were evaluated by Bf, Af, RMSE, and R2. These values indicated that these developed models were reliable to express the growth of TVC and EC on chicken breasts. The temperature changes of distribution and showcase in markets might affect the growth of microorganisms and spoilage of chicken breast mainly.

When human tooth enamel is exposed to the X-ray or ${\gamma}$-rays, free radicals and defects are created in a small quantity of carbonate enclosed in the tooth enamel. The intensity of the ESR signal of the free radicals is almost proportional to the absorbed radiation dose. However this dosimetric character is affected to some extent with the measurement temperature and thermal treatment of the samples. We found that the shape of the ESR signals of the samples is dependent upon the measurement temperature, the thermal annealing prior to the irradiation and that after the irradiation.

Background Autologous fat grafts are commonly used in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery, and various methods are used to improve their viability. Low-level laser therapy (LLLT) can enhance the proliferation, growth, and differentiation of various cell lines, including stem cells. Our study investigated and compared the effects of LLLT and the addition of adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) on the viability of fat grafts. Methods Twenty nude mice were divided into four groups: control (group 1), LLLT irradiation (group 2), ADSC addition (group 3), and LLLT irradiation+ADSC addition (group 4). ADSCs were combined with the fat tissue. LLLT irradiation was performed once daily for 1 week from the day of grafting. After 8 weeks, the weight, volume, histology, and Western blot findings of the grafted fat tissues were evaluated. Results The retention rate and volume of the fat tissue in groups 2, 3, and 4 were higher than that of group 1, but the difference was not statistically significant. The number of capillaries, histological parameters, and immunofluorescence staining analyses for CD68, CD31, fibroblast growth factor, and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) showed no significant differences among the four groups. The expression level of VEGF was higher in group 2 than in the other groups, but not to a statistically significant level. Conclusions LLLT and ADSCs did not significantly improve the viability of autologous fat grafts. Therefore, further study is necessary to develop safe and effective methods to improve the viability of these grafts for clinical application.
Application of flexible forming process to hull structure forming

The conventional line heating method has been applied for the manufacture of various curved blocks used for hull structures in the ship-building industry. However, it has low economical efficiency and productivity because most of its processes are based entirely on the skillful experience of experts. In this study, a flexible forming process is proposed and utilized to substitute for the conventional manual process. In the proposed process, numbers of punches which have round shapes on the contact tip are adopted to configure an equivalent forming surface according to the arbitrarily curved objective surface. A simple punch height determination algorithm that considers the discrete surface and its spatial planar equations is applied to determine the discrete forming surface composed of the adjusted punches. Punch height data are transferred to a numerical simulation model using ANSYS parametric design language, and finite element analysis is conducted to check the formability of the process. Further, experimental investigations are carried out to verify the feasibility of the process using a flexible forming apparatus. Consequently, it is confirmed that a double-curved thick plate could be obtained by the flexible forming process.
