Objective : Serum uric acid has now been identified as a marker for a number of metabolic and hemodynamic abnormalities. The aim of this study is to evaluate risk factors which influence hyperuricemia in the citizens of Asan. Method : The study design was cross-sectional and research subjects were 1086 citizens of Asan. General characteristics, cigarette smoking, alcohol consumption, and past history were obtained by interview using a structural questionnaire. Also, we measured height, weight and blood pressure, and serum uric acid of the subjects. Results : The mean serum uric acid level was 5.27 ㎎/㎗ in men and 4.01 ㎎/㎗, in women, In the multiple logistic regression analysis, statically significant risk factors of hyperuhcemia were gender, body mass index, blood lead concentration, and serum creatinine. Conclusion : Our results suggest that gender, body mass index, blood lead concentration, and serum creatinine might be the most important risk factors of hyperurcemia. Education program as well as routine check-up for serum uric acid was highly recommended for the effective prevention of hyperuricemia.

Acinar cell carcinoma is a rare tumor that represents 1~2% of al1 pancreatic cancers. Clinical and radiologic findings are inconclusive in this disease Acinar cell carcinoma is characterized by rapid progression and early metastasis, which lead to its poor prognosis. A 41-year-o1d man was admitted to our hospital for abdominal pain. Abdominal computed tomography (CT) and positron emission tomography-computed tomography (PET-CT) showed a splenic mass, which was being invaded by a pancreatic tail mass and which had increased ^(18)F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) uptake Primary radical distal pancreatectomy and splenectomy were performed. Pathologic findings revealed an acinar cell carcinoma of the Pancreas The patient underwent a total gastrectomy three months later because of gastric recurrence Four months later, multiple hepatic metastases were discovered, and the patient underwent a left hepatectomy During treatment with capecitabine, there was no evidence of tumor progression for 14 months. We report a case of metastatic pancreatic acinar cell carcinoma, which did not progress for an extended period while the patient was being treated with capecitabme.

Primary retroperitoneal mucinous cystadenocarcinoma is a very rare malignancy, and little is known concerning its Pathogenesis, optimal treatment, and prognosis. A 29-year-o1d pregnant woman (21 weeks) Presented with abdominal discomfort CA 19-9, CA 125, and CEA were normal Abdominal CT scanning revealed a 19x15x13 cm retropentoneal tumor Exploratory laparotomy and tumor excision were performed. Mucinous retropentoneal implants were removed as completely as possible Histologically, the tumor showed focal areas of capsular invasion, but free resection margins The uterus and both ovaries were normal in appearance No adjuvant therapy was pursued. Six months later, Peritoneal and bilateral ovarian metastases were discovered. Hence, we report the details of this case of primary retroperitoneal mucinous Cystadeno-carcinoma and present a review of the literature.

코인시던스 기법을 이용한 DS/SS 패킷 라디오의 초기 동기에 관한 연구

Constant false alarm rate (CFAR) is generally used in the threshold control method for spread spectrum packet radio. In this paper, coincidence technique is adopted for acquisition system to improve the defects of the CFAR mentioned above. For the performance analysis of this acquisition system, packet loss probability is calculated using blocking probability. From numerical results, it is found that the proper number of coincidences is seven, and dynamic SNR range in increased by 20 dB in comparison with that of the non-coincidence system.

저소음 도로 포장재의 현황과 문제점 및 개선에 관한 연구

Road traffic noise is an important issue nowadays. A tire noise which is produced between tire and road is a major part of road traffic noise. This study deals with research in the field of silent pavement types and looks into examples for construction of noise reducing pavement in the world. Noise reducing pavement has problems which are decrease of noise reduction effectiveness as the time has passed, difficulty for management of road surface in the winter and high cost for road construction. To prevent lifetime decrease of silent pavement, periodic road cleaning and responsibility management system of construction company are needed. Porousness pavement must be regulated in the freezing road area to manage road surface well. When we evaluate cost of silent pavement construction, social charge decrease by the noise reduction has to be considered.

수치모델을 이용한 제주도 무릉리 주변해역의 조류 및 온배수확산특성

The numerical models based on the shallow water wave equation and the diffusion equation were applied to the coastal mne of Murung-ri, Cheju Island to find out tidal current and thermal diffusion pheno-mena Computed maximun tidal current velocity during ebb and flood tide was almost 100 cm/sec and main directions of tidal current were South-East in flood and North-West in ebb tide, that was similar to the observation one. The thermal diffusion length of horizontal and verical directions from coastal zone were 3 km and 1 km. repectively during 1 tidal cycle based on numerical diffusion model. The diffusion pattern during tidal cycle was strongly related to tidal current velocity patterns.

The primary problem in modern decision analysis is the treatment of multiple conflicting objectives. In such complex environments Goal Programming has emerged a dominant tool of decision analysis. Today, GP is one of the most recognized and applicable multiple objective decision making(MODM) techniques in multiple criteria decision making. In chapter Ⅱ of this study, the history and the concepts of GP are examined. A. Charnes and W.W. Cooper developed the concept and used name "Goal Programming" for the first time. Y. Ijiri presented the definition of preemptive priority factors and suggested the generalized inverse approach as a solution algorithm. S.M. Lee developed a modified simples method which made GP the most applicable technique in multiple decision analysis. Goal programming is to minimize deviations between goals and what can be achieved within the given set of constraints, instead of trying to maximize or minimize the objective criterion directly as in linear programming. The theoretical structures and developments are examined in chapter Ⅲ. General model and solution methods are discussed first. Sensitivity analysis and computer codes are referred too. The advanced theoretical large-scale GP, is reviewed thoroughly. For the more, the newly developed methods as chance-constrained GP, fuzzy GP, signal flow method, and fractional GP are also included. In chapter Ⅳ, the applications of GP are surveyed completely in the five primary functional areas of management, production, finance, marketing, personnel, and accounting Summary and conclusions of the study are provided in the last chapter. It is hoped that the study serves as a cornerstone of the future study in the theoretical developments and the applications of MODM and especially GP.

제주화력발전소 주변의 수온 및 해류의 특성

To find out the horizontal and the vertical temperature structures and the current characteristics of coastal ocean around Jeju Power Plant located at north part of Jeju Island, we observed the seawater temperature in March, May, September and December, in 2003 and also 15 days long times waves using a current meter respectively. The observed results show that the seasonal variations of the horizontal and vertical temperature pattern happened. However, the horizontal temperature distribution pattern was not much changed. It means that the horizontal temperature change was not so strong due to tidal mixing effects in coastal area. So that the density current was so weak by the weak stratification effects. The surface current pattern shows that the M₂ tidal current component was relatively strong compared with K₂, K₁, 0₁ and constant flow. From the observation results, we found that the density current around Jeju Power Plant was very weak but the surface current was strong since the tidal current effects.

INM을 이용한 항공기소음 예측에 관한 연구

Aircraft noise is a serious problem for inhabitants near airports. INM is one of programs for determinig the predicted noise impact in the vicinity of airports. it has been widely using for engineers to evaluate aircraft noise. However It is difficult to predict noise in case of lack of exact INM input data. The exact informations about a fighter plane are not known well for a security problem. This study presents methods of reducing errors between measurement and simulation when the exact INM input data is not known.
