Multi-functional voltage source inverters (VSIs) have attracted increasing attention in recent years for their advantageous auxiliary services for power quality enhancement in autonomous microgrids. These types of VSIs can not only achieve a proper control scheme in autonomous mode but also cope with the prescribed power quality and stability requirements. These functionalities are integrated within the same device, thereby significantly improving the cost-effectiveness of microgrids while decreasing the investment and bulk compared with those of multiple devices with independent functionalities. Control strategies for power quality enhancement in autonomous microgrids using multi-functional VSIs are comprehensively reviewed in this paper. In addition, such VSIs are discussed in detail, and comparisons of which are also provided. Lastly, a number of future research directions for multi-functional VSIs are recommended.

Preventive and Therapeutic Roles of Ginseng - Focus on Colon Cancer

Colorectal cancer is one of the most prevalent diseases all over the world. Early screening and start of chemotherapy is effective in decreasing mortality. This type of cancer can be controlled to some extent via a healthy diet rich in fruit and vegetables. Ginseng is a plant which has been consumed as a herbal medicine for thousands of years in Asian countries. Several in vitro and in vivo studies have shown that this plant not only reduces the incidence of colorectal cancer, but also improves patient's status by enhancing the effects of chemotherapy drugs. However, further studies are needed to prove this relationship. We briefly review ginseng and its components such as ginsenosides reported anticancer effects and their mechanisms of action. Understanding these relationships may produce insights into chemical and pharmacological approaches for enhancing the chemo preventive effects of ginsenosides and for developing novel anticancer agents.
Crack identification in Timoshenko beam under moving mass using RELM

In this paper, a new method has been proposed to detect crack in beam structures under moving mass using regularized extreme learning machine. For this purpose, frequencies of beam under moving mass used as input to train machine. This data is acquired by the analysis of cracked structure applying the finite element method (FEM). Also, a validation study used for verification of the FEM. To evaluate performance of the presented method, a fixed simply supported beam and two span continuous beam are considered containing single or multi cracks. The obtained results indicated that this method can provide a reliable tool to accurately identify cracks in beam structures under moving mass.
