Endpoint Perfect Tracking Control of Robots - A Robust Non Inversion-Based Approach

Alireza Izadbakhsh,Mohammad-Reza Rafiei 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2009 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.7 No.6

This paper presents a simple and robust non inversion-based perfect tracking control (RNIBPTC) strategy for robot manipulators. The proposed approach is capable to eliminate the environmental problems arising from classic feedforward control design and so guarantees an appropriate level of robustness of control system to uncertainties including external disturbances, un-modeled dynamics, friction force and variation of payload. Extensive simulation results performed using a two degree-of-freedom actuated elbow robot prove the effectiveness of the proposed approach. The results are also compared to those obtained from Internal Model Control approach. Using free model of system in control law design is a considerable point in the field of robot manipulator control.

      • Role of HER2 in Brain Metastasis of Breast Cancer: a Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

        Hedayatizadeh-Omran, Akbar,Rafiei, Alireza,Alizadeh-Navaei, Reza,Tehrani, Mohsen,Valadan, Reza,Moradzadeh, Kambiz,Panbechi, Mohammad,Taghavi, Seyed Mehdi Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2015 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.16 No.4

Background: Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers among women worldwide and the HER2 receptor plays an important role in its development and progression. This systematic review aimed to summarize the role of HER2 in brain metastasis in patients with breast cancer. Materials and Methods: We conducted a literature search by advanced search in title field using the Scopus, Pubmed, and Google scholar databases until the end of June 2014. With metastasis, metastatic, HER2, brain, and breast cancer, as terms of search we selected 31 articles, which were reviewed by two independent and blinded expert reviewers. The studies were first selected according to their titles and abstracts. Quality of the studies were then assessed using the STROBE (Strengthening the Reporting of Observational Studies in Epidemiology) protocol for observational studies and CONSORT(Consolidation of Standards for Reporting Trials) protocol for clinical trials. For statistical analyses, we used STATA, version 11.0 software. Forest and funnel diagrams were drawn and for heterogeneity, index was also considered. Also we used meta regression analysis. Results: Finally, we reviewed 10 studies. The prevalence of brain metastasis in HER2-positive breast cancer patients was 24.9%. There was publication bias in the reviewed studies. Meta regression analysis showed that follow up time had no significant effect (p=0.396) on the prevalence of brain metastasis. Conclusions: The results showed a high prevalence of brain metastasis in HER2 positive breast cancer patients.

A Robust Anti-Windup Control Design for Electrically Driven Robots - Theory and Experiment

Alireza Izadbakhsh,Ali Akbarzadeh Kalat,Mohammad Mehdi Fateh,Mohammad Reza Rafiei 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2011 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.9 No.5

A Robust Anti-Windup Control (RAWC) method is proposed for n-Degree-of-Freedom (DOF) electrically driven robots considering the actuator voltage saturation. The actuator’s saturation is fairly modeled by a smooth nonlinear function and the control design task is developed to avoid windup besides being robust against both model uncertainties and external disturbances. As a major point, the paper also takes into consideration the fact that windup phenomenon can be caused by some strong disturbances. As a result, being robust to external disturbances promises safer situation against windup. The proposed controller needs no saturation output feedback and torque’s measurement for control implementation. The analytical studies as well as the experimental results produced using MATLAB/SIMULINK External Mode Control on a 2-DOF robot manipulator driven by geared Per-manent magnet DC motors prove the superiority of the proposed approach.

Acute Necrotizing Encephalopathy in Adult Patients With COVID-19: A Systematic Review of Case Reports and Case Series

        Shaghayegh Karami,Fattaneh Khalaj,Houman Sotoudeh,Zohreh Tajabadi,Ramin Shahidi,Mohammad Amin Habibi,Mahsa Shirforoush Sattari,Amir Azimi,Seyed Ali Forouzannia,Romina Rafiei,Hamid Reihani,Reza Nemati 대한신경과학회 2023 Journal of Clinical Neurology Vol.19 No.6

Background and Purpose Acute necrotizing encephalopathy (ANE) is a rare neurological disorder that is often associated with viral infections. Since the emergence of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), a few COVID-19-associated ANE cases have been reported. Since very little is known about ANE, the present study aimed to determine the clinical, biochemical, and radiological characteristics of affected patients. Methods A search was conducted on PubMed, Scopus, Embase, and Web of Science databases for articles published up to August 30, 2022 using relevant keywords. Case reports and series in the English language that reported ANE in adult patients with COVID-19 confirmed by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction were included in this study. Data on the demographic, clinical, laboratory, and radiological characteristics of patients were extracted and analyzed using the SPSS software (version 26). Results The study included 30 patients (18 males) with COVID-19 and ANE who were aged 49.87±18.68 years (mean±standard deviation). Fever was the most-prevalent symptom at presentation (66.7%). Elevated C-reactive protein was observed in the laboratory assessments of 13 patients. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging were the most-common radiological modalities used for brain assessments. The most commonly prescribed medications were methylprednisolone (30%) and remdesivir (26.7%). Sixteen patients died prior to discharge. Conclusions The diagnosis of COVID-19-associated ANE requires a thorough knowledge of the disease. Since the clinical presentations of ANE are neither sensitive nor specific, further laboratory and brain radiological evaluations will be needed to confirm the diagnosis. The suspicion of ANE should be raised among patients with COVID-19 who present with progressive neurological symptoms.
