Optical fiber sensors are by now broadly accepted as an innovative and reliable device for structural health monitoring, to be used either embedded into or bonded on structures. The accuracy of the strain measurement achievable by optical fiber sensors is critically dependent on the characteristics of the bonding of the various interface layers involved in the sensor bonding/embedding (structure material and gluing agent, fiber coating and gluing agent, fiber coating and fiber core). In fact, the signal of the bonded/embedded optical fiber sensor must correspond to the strain experienced by the monitored structure, but the quality of each involved interface can affect the strain transfer. This paper faces the characterization, carried on by both mechanical tests and morphological analysis, of the strain transfer function resulting with epoxidic and vinylester gluing agent on polyimide and acrylate coated optical fibers.
Correlated Λd pairs from the Kstop-A->ΛdA' reaction
FINUDA Collaboration,Agnello, M.,Beer, G.,Benussi, L.,Bertani, M.,Bhang, H.C.,Bianco, S.,Bonomi, G.,Botta, E.,Bregant, M.,Bressani, T.,Bufalino, S.,Busso, L.,Calvo, D.,Camerini, P.,Caponero, M.,Cerell North-Holland Pub. Co 2007 Physics letters: B Vol.654 No.3
Correlated Λd pairs emitted after the absorption of negative kaons at rest Kstop-A->ΛdA' in light nuclei 6Li and 12C are studied. Λ-hyperons and deuterons are found to be preferentially emitted in opposite directions. The Λd invariant mass spectrum of 6Li shows a bump whose mass is 3251+/-6 MeV/c2. The bump mass (binding energy), width and yield are reported. The appearance of a bump is discussed in the realm of the [K@?3N] clustering process in nuclei. The experiment was performed with the FINUDA spectrometer at DAΦNE (LNF).
Correlated Λt pairs from the absorption of K- at rest in light nuclei

Novel data from the Kstop-A absorption reaction in light nuclei 6,7Li and 9Be are presented. The study aimed at finding Λt correlations. Regardless of A, the Λt pairs are preferentially emitted in opposite directions. Reaction modeling predominantly assigns to the Kstop-A->Λt(N)A' direct reactions the emission of the Λt pairs whose yield is found to range from 10-3 to 10-4/Kstop-. The experiment was performed with the FINUDA spectrometer at DAΦNE (LNF).

The inelastic charge exchange reaction (K+, K0) on 7Li has been experimentally investigated close to threshold with the FINUDA spectrometer at the e+e- collider DAΦNE by searching for KS0 decays. It is the first time that this process has been studied at such low momentum. An upper limit of 2.0 mb (at 95% confidence level) has been measured for the total cross section.
