The noise and vibration have been evaluated by using the finite element model in the vehicle developing stage. The sound pressure of the vehicle compartment is predicted by the acoustic cavity model coupled with the body structure. In general, the structural model has been focused to study in the improvement of the noise. It is not easy to treat the structural model, instead the acoustic cavity model is relatively simple and aids in root cause analysis of vibro-acoustic issues. Therefore, the acoustic transfer function of the cavity is more efficient for finding out the main contribution parts of the vehicle booming noise. And examples about the run-up booming noise demonstrate the validity of the AFT analysis for improving the vibro-acoustic sensitivity.

An automobile outside rearview mirror system has been analyzed and designed, to reduce the vibration, A finite element model is defined for the analysis with a commercial software. Modal analysis has been conducted for the calculation of natural frequencies. Harmonic analysis is utilized to estimate the displacements of the glass surface under dynamic loads, the model is verified with the vibration experiment for parts and the assembled body.<br/> The structure of the mirror system has been optimized for the robustness defined by the Taguchi concept. At first, many design variables are identified. Input design variables are selected due to the amount of contribution, the SN ratio in the Taguchi method is replaced by an objective function with mean and standard deviation, the defined objective function is appropriate in the structural design. The selected design minimized the vibration which it is insensitive to noise.<br/>

The outside rearview mirror system is analyzed and designed to cnhance the vibrational behavior. The sensitivity information is utilized for the selection of design variables which are important in the bhavior of mirror system. With selected design variables, designs are determined using an orthogonal array and structural optimization approach. Also, the comparison test is carried out between the solutions of the orthogonal array method and the structural optimization.<br/>
