This article is a historical inquiry into the so-called macrobiotic diet, which became widely known as an alternative healthy diet in the US and Europe since the late 1960s. Contemporary macrobiotics has its roots in the prewar idea of shokuyō (food and nourishment, literally), which was advocated by Ishizuka Sagen, a military pharmacist who were trained in both modern scientific and traditional Chinese medicines. Ishizuka and his supporters established The Imperial Food Education Society (teikoku shokuiku kai, later changed its name to Shokuyōkai) in 1905 for the purpose of promoting a "scientific and righteous diet and thereby renovating the bodies of imperial subjects." The Society continued to take a critical stance toward the established modern dietetics and medicine by claiming that they all lacked a holistic perspective on human body and health. This article aims to investigate how Sakurazawa Yukikazu, one of the most central figures of the Society, developed his own diet system and bio-medical ethics based upon the theory of Yin-yō and Chinese medicine as an antithesis of modern Western medicine, in an attempt to implode its inherent Japanism toward a universalistic principle for the ever-expanding Japanese Empire.

In this study, we research the four seasonal preference and image of make-up color according to age and career. Demonstrating the seasonal make color to express the different skin texture, the image according to the skin texture was different from the same color image. At 20s age they preferred to the black pale red color and they who are at late 30 age preferred to the dull yellow red. There are distinguishing differences as their age. This study is tried to establish the systematic image in making up of the same color to the various skin texture. We found that we recognized the wanted image through the seasonal make-up preference according to age and career. This study may be helpful to demonstrate the well positioned and standardized image.

Women in contemporary society are eager to get better reputation from themselves and other peoplethrough their beautiful image. Being caused by their desire, the various ways of image making have beendeveloped. The Technique of make up has been typically situated for building good feeling image. Theyutilize the makeup for being beautiful. This tool is recognized not only as exterior expression but also aspsychological satisfaction. But the wrong recognition of makeup is likely to result in the directly opposedeffect. In this study, we compare and analyze the groups of Beauty maior and Non-Beauty major UniversityStudents. We arrive at significant output in the makeup recognition, process of acquiring information,reaction to media, favored make up style, makeup material, color favorite and etc. We propose the modelof applying technique and material for building good feeling image to demonstrate the makeup in the future. We hope that the contribution of this study should be the basic reference of beauty industry trend and imagemaking.
