The pressure distribution on the surface of the sliding flat plate holder was greatly affected by the shape of the clearance surface and the thickness of the clearance. Therefore, various clearance shapes of the sliding plate holder of the swash plate type piston pump were studied by using CFD software. This study shows that the pressure distribution and the applied force on the gap surface of the sliding plate holder are affected by various surface shapes such as crevice thickness and grooves and taper. According to the results, the shape with the taper and groove generally has a lower maximum pressure and force than the plane holder gap. but with a taper, the pressure distribution is made uniform as a whole, and in the case of grooves, saving its own fluids.

The pressure distribution on the holder surface of the piston pump is greatly influenced by shape of the holder surface and the thickness of the gap due to the squeeze effect. Therefore, the surface shape of the piston pump holder was studied by using CFD software. This study shows that the pressure distribution and applied force on the surface of the holder are affected by the thickness of the gap and the shape of the groove. According to the results, the holder with the grooves generally has a lower maximum pressure and force than the flat shape, but it may have the effect for the storing oil in the grooves to protect the contact between the surfaces of the holder.

The squeeze effect is a significant effect on the lubrication and motion of the machine. Especially, this effect can be used for a hydraulic pump which requires lubrication and damper effect, and it is important characteristics of a hydraulic actuating machine. A squeeze effect is greatly influenced by the shape of the gap surface and the gap thickness, and this study investigates the squeeze effects for the various gap shape of sliding plate holder of swash plate type axial piston pump by using CFD software. This study shows that the pressure distributions and applied forces of the gap surfaces of sliding plate holder are affected by the gap thickness, the squeeze velocity, and the various shape of surfaces like grooves and tapers. According to the results, a holder gap with taper and grooves ha generally lower pressure distribution and applied force than a plane holder gap, but the goove of sliding plate holder my have a function of keeping a part of outflowing fluid in the gap
