이 연구의 목적은 유소년 육상 코치가 갖추어야 할 역량이 무엇인지 살펴보고 그에 따른 유소년 육상 코치의 코칭역량 모델을 개발하는데 있다. 연구 목적을 달성하기 위해 ‘새로운 역량모델개발 방법론(Starting from Scratch)’을 적용하여 개발단계와 검증단계로 나누어 재구성하였다. 연구 참여자는 유소년 육상 코치 5명에게 행동사건면담을 실시하였으며, 전문가 집단 11명을 구성하여 타당성 검증을 실시하였다. 또한, 유소년 육상 코치 74명을 대상으로 코칭역량 모델의 요구도 조사를 실시하였다. 수집된 자료는 역량요소 도출, 잠정역량과 인용문 제시, 잠정역량도출의 3단계 분석기법에 따라 자료를 분석하고 잠정적 코칭역량 모델을 구축하였다. 잠정적 코칭역량 모델의 타당성을 확보하고자 전문가 집단에게 7점 Likert 척도를 활용하여 코칭역량의 중요 정도를 파악하였으며, 내용타당도(CVR)를 산출하였다. 도출된 결과를 근거로 코칭역량 모델을 개발하였으며, 개발된 역량모델에 대한 요구도를 알아보기 위해 46개의 행동지표를 중심으로 5단계 Likert 척도로 구성하였다. 코칭역량의 현재수준과 중요수준의 차이를 분석하고자 SPSS 22.0 통계 프로그램으로 대응표본 t-검증을 실시하였으며, 코칭역량의 우선순위를 확인하고자 Borich 요구도 값을 산출하였다. 그 결과 유소년 육상 코치의 코칭역량 모델은 코칭기술, 선수특성파악, 코치자질로 3개의 역량군을 도출하였으며, 이에 따른 10개의 역량과 46개의 행동지표를 포함하고 있다. 육상은 모든 운동의 기초 종목으로 개발된 코칭역량 모델은 유소년을 지도하는 코치에게 유용한 자료가 되어 육상종목이 발전되기를 기원한다. 더 나아가 기초 종목인 육상에 발전은 대한민국 스포츠가 앞으로 한걸음 내딛게 되는 발판이 되어 줄 것을 기대한다. The purpose of this study is to develop the coaching capability model for youth track and field coaches. To this end, it applied the seven stages of a new capability model development methodology (starting from scratch) and reorganized it, by dividing it development and test stage. The participants recruited for data collection included 5 youth track and field coaches for behavioral event interview, the group of 11 experts for validation, and 74 youth track and field coaches for an analysis on the needs for the coaching capability model. Collected data were analyzed according to the three stages of analysis technique and a provisional coaching capability model was established: drawing up capability factors, suggestion of provisional competencies and quotes and drawing up provisional competencies. In order to verify the validity of the coaching capability model, the group of experts was asked to examine the important of the coaching model by using a 7-point Likert scale, and the coaching capability model was developed by estimating CVR. To examine the needs for the developed capability model, this study constructed a 5-point Likert scale around 46 behavioral indices. In order to analyze differences in the current level and the importance of coaching competencies, paired t-test was conducted by using SPSS 22.0, and Boritch needs were estimated to verify the priority of coaching competencies. The findings show that the coaching capability model for youth track and field coaches drew up three groups of competencies: coaching skills, understanding of athletes’ characteristics and coaches’ quality. It thus includes 10 competencies and 46 behavioral indices.
