In this study, the engine/motor power-split-ratio algorithm is designed to develop the driving control method for hybrid electric vehicle. With this algorithm, engine/motor power' split ratio map is expressed as 3-dimensional map and using the developed driving control method, driving simulation is performed to evaluate vehicle performance, fuel economy and emissions. According to the simulation result, hybrid vehicle is superior to engined vehicle in fuel economy and emissions.

On this study the hybrid vehicle powertrain is designed using automated manual transmission, and the simulation program for analyzing dynamic characteristics of this vehicle is developed. Using the result of simulation program, shift mechanism which uses engine and motor is developed. To verify performance of designed powertrain. test facility is constructed.<br/>

Because of the oil scarcity and the greenhouse effect in environment. fuel economy and emissions have been received much attention by car-makers. In the above crisis. a hybrid electric car can be one of the resonable solutions<br/> In this paper. we developed the simulation program for laying out the hybrid vehicle. This program consists of the algorithms: to compose hybrid system such as. the power-capacity-matching and the battery-size-selection. to simulate acceleration performance. fuel economy and emissions. to decide PSR(power split ratio). to make shift map. to appraise break-even point of the hybrid vehicle in comparison with I.C. engined vehicle. To test the usefulness of this simulation program. we applied it to a lay-out of the parallel hybrid bus
