거트의 창의성 이론에 대한 비판적 이해 - 창의성(Creativity)과 기술(Skill)의 관계를 중심으로

이 글은 창의성에 대한 거트의 주장을 비판적으로 고찰함으로써 창의성과 기술의 관계를 살펴보는 것을 목표로 한다. 이를 위해서 먼저 기술이 무엇인지, 기술과 창의성이 서로 무관한 것으로 간주되어왔던 이유는 무엇인지, 그리고 거트가 주된 비판의 대상으로 삼는 추진 이론의 창의성에 관한 생각을 살펴보도록 하겠다. 다음으로는, 기술과 창의성의 관계에 관한 거트의 논변을 소극적 논변과 적극적 논변으로 나누어 살펴보도록 하겠다. 그리고 거트의 소극적 논변과 적극적 논변이 갖는 한계에 대해서 고찰해보겠다. 거트의 적극적 논변은, 창의성을 구성하는 기술의 정체를 분명하게 밝히지 않는다는 문제를 가지며, 거트의 소극적 논변은 새롭고 가치 있는 산물을 어떻게 만들어내는지에 관해서, 추진 이론과 구분될 만큼의 충분한 설명을 제공하지 못한다는 문제를 갖는다. 이 글에서는 창의적 과정이 일종의 문제 해결 과정으로 이해될 때, 거트의 이론이 갖는 한계가 보완될 수 있다는 점을 대안으로 제시하고자 한다. This article aims to investigate the relationship between creativity and skill by critically considering Gaut's theory of creativity. To this end, this article looks at what skill is, why skill and creativity have been regarded as unrelated to each other, and the idea of creativity in the propulsion theory which is Gaut’s main target of criticism. Then, I will examine Gaut's arguments regarding the relationship between skill and creativity by dividing them into negative arguments and positive arguments. And I will take a critical look at the problems of Gaut's negative argument and positive argument. The problem is that Gaut's positive argument does not sufficiently explain the exact character of the skill that constitutes creativity. Also, Gaut’s negative argument has the problem of not providing a sufficient explanation on creative process. In conclusion, I would like to make a statement about the relationship between creativity and skill by referring to the point that the creative process can be more meaningful when understood as a kind of problem-solving process.
