In the incremental roll forming process, the plastic deformation occurs incrementally in principle, and the gradual growth of the plastic deformation makes the plate be the preferred shape determined by the process parameters. In order to obtain a final shape of the close proximity to the desired one, the forming conditions for the whole process should be systematically and accurately determined. Of the forming conditions, considering the basic principle of the forming process, the number of roll-lines is. an important design factor, because it influences the quality of a product, as well as the radius of curvature. Therefore, in this work, the design method to assign the forming path for a given target shape is introduced and the product formed by using implemented design program is presented.

Incremental roll forming process combines the advantages both of incremental forming and the roll forming process. This process requires a smaller load capacity to form a thicker plate. This fact means that the incremental roll forming process has considerable potential for shipbuilding applications. The authors of this work have demonstrated experimentally the general applicability of the incremental roll forming process for the manufacture of ship hull plates. Recently, on the basis of the preliminary study, the large-sized forming machine for practical application of incremental roll forming process has been developed. Furthermore, the forming process planning system for the generation of forming information has been constructed and integrated with the forming machine. The primary achievements and features will be presented in this paper.
