The application of magnetic field in control of manufacturing process has become of interest in recent past. In magnetic abrasive polishing process, magnetic force plays a dominant role in the formation of flexible abrasive brush and developing abrasion pressure. So, in recent study, magnetic abrasive polishing is applied in the inner pipe polishing, micro burr deburring process and free surface mold polishing. This paper identifies the parameters of μ-MIP(micro magnetic induced polishing) that significantly affect the surface roughness when a magnetic field is applied around the workpiece. Design of experiments has been adopted for studying the effect of μ-MIP parameters.
