The aim of this study was to enhance the communication between webtoon readers by proposing a new comment system that includes a pin comment function in response to the lack of community platforms for webtoon readers in the growing webtoon market. Comments, recommendations, and community functions were investigated through case analysis of platforms that currently lead the domestic webtoon market, and the inconveniences and needs of the aforementioned services were obtained from webtoon fans through a survey. The results showed that the pin comment function allows the users to view the comments conveniently, which is not possible in the existing scroll-type webtoons. With the pin comment function, the opinions of other readers can be directly viewed while reading webtoons, and other episode-related cuts can be easily shared through the linked comments. The pin comment function also provided an active discussion space related to the content of the webtoon. This study contributed to exhalting the webtoon platform to a communication-enhanced community platform, which is lacking in previous studies. Moreover, the inconvenient in comment viewing. on the current webtoon platforms was addressed in this study.
