This paper focuses on 3D terrain surface models using Delaunay triangulation rather than Voronoi diagrams since data search and interpolation are required for computation of ground reaction force in real-time simulation of land vehicle dynamics maneuvering in 3D terrain surfaces. Conventional Tsearch, combined with Delaunay triangulation, does not provide adequate searching speeds when real-time simulation of off-road vehicles is considered in typical 3D terrain surfaces composed of millions or billions of triangular polygons. Thus, Level of Detail (LoD) technique, used in real-time computer graphics, and Neural Network (NM) algorithm are employed to enhance the speed of terrain database searching. Numerical tests show that LoD accelerates the speed of Tsearch by 100 percents in worst cases, which are the criteria for comparison in real-time simulation because of fixed integration step sizes. In expected values of searching, which are most-accepted criteria of comparison in general simulation, NM enhances searching speed of conventional Tsearch by more than 200 percents.
