李宰錫,韓景濬 中央醫學社 1972 中央醫學 Vol.23 No.1
We are very interested in the method of sliding subcutaneous pedicle flap for the covering of circular defect of the skin which was reported by Trevaskis, A.E., et al. (1970). When this procedure is applied to the skin defect of the amputated stump, the stump is to preserve maximum function and to minimize loss of time from work. Because the procedure provides good contour and padding with less. scarring of the Limb, and the most important of all, preserves normal sensation. Here, we give two clinical applications for the covering of the skin defect of the end of the amputated stump; one was toe amputation and the other was chronic ulceration of the end of the short below knee amputation, and good results were obtained such as preserving the length, the function, the sensation and cosmetic furthermore.

During a recent five years period ending May 31,1966, appendectomy in childhood under fifteen years of age was performed on 162 patients in St. Paul's hospital, Catholic medical centre. Of all 185 appendectomies, twenty-three were nonpathologic appendices which were excluded in this discussion. Thirty-four or 21 per cent were perforated. It is suggested that the incidence of perforated appendicitis is high in younger age group, and early diagnosis and prompt surgical intervention are demandable. It should be emphasized that the patients with fluid or electrolyte inbalance require proper replacement prior to surgery and kept in mind there may be misdiagnosis even though thorough examination is undergone.
