Under the title of "Sharing Model for Peace Education " in regard to the teaching religion until now I have studied and reported that unlike the past when they were unilaterally taught, today's youths are accustomed to mutual communication through the internet and various multimedia, which indicate the younger generation has become to be suitable for the education of sharing.
I have raised an issue that while ordinary schools have converted their education methods to a student-oriented education in accordance with changed characters of youths, the teaching of religious education has not much evolved from the conventional way of education that is theology-oriented and cramming one's head with knowledge. Further more, I have brought up a problem in contents of teaching education courses and textbooks that are heavily concentrated on the purpose of the missionary work and the doctrine.
Therefore, I have proposed the education of sharing as an alternative method or system, and presented other scholars' theories that relate to education models, such as "Shared Praxis" by Thomas Groom and "Teaching from the Heart" by Marry Elizabeth Moore to further promote the new education method.
Sharing is owning other's thoughts together. By doing so, each learner's experience of faith and stories can influence others and implant sound values of life and faith education that are intangible. Also, through the education of sharing I have explained one can change other's life. In addition, in regard to the teaching of religious education course, I have proposed the necessity of peace education on top of the foundation of the education of sharing. I have insisted that the peace education itself is the faith education, and it can be a driving force to direct this society in a right direction and to live in a harmony.
Therefore, in religious education course, we should not only teach the bible in emphasis of doctrine and for the purpose of the salvation of students, but to educate in a purpose of fostering Christians as upright and straight believers and to implant sound Christian morality and values to those non-Christians, that as I have stated can be achieved with the peace education. I believe this should be the mission of the school that is founded on Christian belief and spirit.
Lastly, teaching the religious education course is like placing the education of sharing on a kitchen board and cooking with the peace education. Only then, the ultimate goal of religious education, that is missionary work, can be reached and make today's society more promising.
