In the year of 2002 was actually full of musical performances which even upgraded this Korean musical market. There were Nunsense, Rent, Forbidden Planet, Gambler, Tommy, of course Phantom of the Opera and yes, there was Footloose.
Footloose has many elements that can make people not just seat back "holding out for a hero", "almost Paradise" and wait till the play ends. and "footloose" are already world famouse musical numbers.
The original Footloose is very dynamique and every scense are reflection And for three months of long run in Seoul, there of enthusiastic dance. And for three months of long run in Seoul, there were more than coulple of difficulties. But the Seoul staffs took the wise ways of their own and lead their Footloose to succeed. When this musical has been up on the stage in Broadway the very first time, the broadway quotede followings. "broadway just might have found its next long - running musical!" "Footloose is magic. The dances are jaw-dropping. Dazzinly energetic ..... not since choreographer Michael Kidd sent Broadway dancers to emergency rooms has there been such acrobatic stuff." "I love this show! From the moment theshow opens, you will not stop moving your feet. The dances are sensational. Let's Hear if for the Boy brings the house down- the best single musical scene on Broadway. Get tickets and happily dance out of the theater."
Actually Footloose in Korea has been interpreted in different way compared to broadway one. In the story, there is a big theme stream going on which is the conflict between the father who's the pastor and his daughter who's in a high school. She really does love and respect her father but all her love are expresses in youth juvenile. And the father is trying to get along with her, but not like he trys hard it doesn't work out well. That is the original broadway musical line but in Seoul, they have changed the story line above to the stubborn father who's even not thoughtful nor understanding and the daughter is kind of multy personality girl. These two different main characters made this one musical into not the same but alike ones.
Even though, Footloose is still Footloose. As broadway quoted above, it will be the oe of the long running musical piece. Finally I dream our musical market being more active and more people investing business in the near future.
