In general, respective issues of serials are published under one title in consecutive order and consist of many articles. Multiple materials are divided into two types: a serial publication issued regularly or irregularly under the same titles; and a single publication issued once such as a special research report.
The traditional approach to access a specific article is to search manually for a print-type serial or multiple material using bibliographic information.
This study begins with the viewpoint that, in present library environments in which digitalized full-text image information is widely supplied, it is timely and important to develop a plan for effectively searching bibliography and full-text image information and also to keep and conserve the original copy in its printed form.
In order to supply full-text image documents using a network for users, they must be transformed into digital formats. A part of this process includes the systemization of the unorganized information so that it can be accessed.
The scope of this study encompasses
ⅰ) the correspondence of respective bibliographies with original copy
ⅱ) the methods of systematizing the bibliographies and image files
ⅲ) the supplementary elements for managing and using image files
in transforming print-type documents into image files of digital form.
The analysis of databases presented by ProQuest Direct, MCB UP and KERIS shows that: 1) there are some problems in keeping and conserving an entire original form in full-text image files because not all of the articles are selected and transformed to digital format. 2) It is impossible to browse consecutive articles through page numbers.
Linkage structures of serials and multiple materials start with building logical relations between the whole and the parts. The organic relationship between them will be a prerequisite for satisfying users in the access behavior and for perfectly conserving the print-type documents.
In order to construct this relationship, the study suggests:
    · all of the articles from serials or multiple materials are linked with bibliographies and image files in a way that they may be searched consecutively or separately at the same time
·the techniques are designed to deal with the image file transaction likethe contents and page information for full-text images
    · the file structures are designed to reflect the characteristics of serials and multiple materials
    · when print-typed books, which are physically divided and shelved, are converted to digit-types, logic numbers and their usage methods are presented to make it possible to separate and unite them logically
    · creating specific types of information about user level and hierarchical relationships among those types, are designed.
