The chant of 『Siyong-hyangakpo (時用鄕樂譜 : Korean old score)』 is a vocal music and Koryo˘ hyang-ak(高麗 鄕樂). It´s melody was analyzed to find out yoeum(餘音 : prelude, interlude, postlude), closing style, and melodic structure. To understand its melodic structure, structure tones were selected by dividing phrase. The phrase division was based on the established works and the unites of phrase, sentence, movement, and composition were used to clarify the melodic structure. The analyses of the melodic structure of each chant are the following:
(1) The structure of the chant is divided mostly into homophony movement, downside movement, yoeum, and closing style. The musical phrase is mainly down melody.
(2) The yoeum centered on <kung(宮 : e´Ь)> is divided into the types of A,B,C, and D. Type A is basic and the rest is combined on a 8 time basis.
(3) The closing style is particularly a style of <Hasam(下三 : bЬ·aЬ) to Hao (下五 : eЬ)> in 18 chants. The others are its enlargement, reduction, and alteration, except <Kunma-daewang(軍馬大王)> with a <sangil(上一 : f´)> style.
Particularly closing style of 「Soyong-hyangakpo」

(4) The standard of melodic structure was desided as generally Melodic Structure of 『Siyong-hyangakpo』. The generally Melodic Structure and the current structure of Ka´gok(歌曲 : Korean classical lyric song) were compared.
본문참조
The Koryo˘ hyang-ak in 『Siyong-hyangakpo』 had been changed for a long time but its melody is closely related with the current Ka´gok. The relation between the chant of 『Siyong-hyangakpo』 and the melody of Ka´gok is a common point which the current music and the Koryo˘ hyang-ak have. It proves that the origin of the current music that has changed from the Yi Dynasty is linked to the Koryo˘ period.
