This study set up the following research hypotheses in order to find out how much closely the self-concept reates to the adjstment and what differences are existed in each school, sex and region.
    1. The self-concept will be signiflcant differences between junior high school and senior high school.
    2. The self-concept will be significant differences between boys and girls.
    3. The self-concept will be significant differences between city and country.
    4. The adjustment will be significant differences between junior high school and senior high school.
    5. The adjustment will be significant differences between boys and girls.
    6. The adjustment will be significant differences between city and country.
    7. There will be significant plus correlation between the self-concept and the adjustoment. In other words, the more positive the self-concept is the higher the adjustment behavior will occur and the more negative the self-concept is the higher the mal-adjustment behavior will take place.
    8. There will be signficant differences in correlation between the self-concept and the adjustment according to each school.
    9. There will be signficant differences in correlation between the self-concept and the adjustment according to each sex.
    10. There will be signficant differences in correlation between the self-concept and the adjustment according to each region.
700, boys and girl, 2nd grade of junior and senior high school living in choon-chun city and Yang-Goo country were tested by Kim Ki-Jung(1991)'s the self-concept test and Lee Sang-Ro, Byoun Chang-Jin(1989)'s standard adjustment diagnosis test, then 393 peoples who answered questions sincerely were selected as the sample in order to prove research hypotheses.
The test scores were exchanged to T-score and then mean(X), standard deviation(SD), correlation coefficient(r) of each school, sex and region were got and t-test was performed to test of differences according to each group. And after testion significance of correlation coefficlent(r), exchasnged correlation coefficient(r) to Fisher's Z coefficient and z-test.
The results of this study were as follows.
    1. There was significant differences in characterictic, homely, general, scholastic, nonscholastic, whole self-concept according to each school(P< .05, P< .01).
    2. There was significant differences in moral, homely, social self-concept according to each sex(P< .05, P< .01).
    3. There was not significant differences in each region.
    4. There was significant differences in the adjustment of society, characteristics, health, friend, the opposite sex, leisure according to each school(P< .05, P<.01).
    5. There was significant differences in the adjustment of economy, society according to each sex(P< .05, P< .01).
    6. There was significant differences in the adjustment of economy, society according to each region(P< .05).
    7. The correlation between the self-concept and the adjustment was significant the plus correlation(P<.05, P< .01).
    8. The correlation between the self-concept and the adjustment was significant differences in only 14 according to each school(P< .05).
    9. The correlation between the self-concept and the adjustment was significant differences in only 13 according to each sex(P< .05, P< .01).
    10. The correlation between the self-concept and the adjustment was significant differences in only 8 according to each region(P< .05, P< .01).
