This dissertation estimates the Full Time Homemaker's Housework.
There are reason why the estimation of the value of housework is important.
First, as women's participation rate of labor market increases in the process of industrialization, the importance of women's work has been increased. This raises consequently the opportunity cost of housework.
Second, so far the value of housework doesn't take into account in GNP. Because the value of housework doesn't have priced at market. And then an estimate of the economic value of housework also has significance as follow. In the case that the value of housework is reckoned in Gross National Product, we can provide the accurate value on house labor and make it measurement to gauge financial situation of house wife as well at the event of settlement of problems in the house life such as consolation fee, a claim for compensation of damages and losses etc..
The followings brief for three. methods which are used conculating the value of housework which has such an importance. The Opportunity Cost Approach is the estimating method of the value of houseworks by means of latent income gaind when house wife spends the equivalent labour the consumed in housework on occupational labor outside house. The Specialist Substitute Cost Approach is the method by applying market wage ratio of every house-work included after dividing each works the housework field has. The Substitute Cost Approach of housework based on the wages of the housekeeper, supposing at housekeeper would take the place of all house labour of house wife.
The value of housework by way of the aformentioned three methods are as follows.
The greatest counting on value of housework in opportunity cost approach amounts \457,924. The specialist substitute cost approach counts \334,600.
The substitute cost of housekeeper takes the amount of \293,992 at a lowest level.
The most general used accurate method is the opportunity cost approach.
Therefore with the value of housework is accurated by the opportunity cost approach, we calculate as follows. What ratio does the value of housework bear to National Income? What ratio does the value of housework bear to Household Income?
In accordance with the consequences the ratio of the value of housework to the Nation Income is 34% and to the Household Income is 60%. Hence in the case that the value of housework add to National Income or Household Income an increase of the economic value is very much This value surely present the important of housework.
