This study aimed to recognize special problematic aspects for unmarried female in their twenties, and to examine the effects of developing and practicing a group counseling program based on V. E Frankl's(1963) logotherapy.
The purpose of the study was to determine the following;
1. Will a group counseling based on logotherapy improve the level of the purpose in lives of unmarried females in their twenties?
2. Will a group counseling based on logotherapy promote the self-esteem of unmarried females in their twenties?
3. Will a group counseling based on logotherapy decrease the level of stress of unmarried females in their twenties?
4. What will be the effects of based on logotherapy group counseling for unmarried females in their twenties each session?
The subjects of this study was 20 unmarried females in their twenties attening five churches which are located in Sa-ha, Pusan. These were assigned to an experimental and a control group which were each composed of 10 members. For the experimental group, I conducted group counseling based on logotherapy. It was carried out 2 times every week 100 minutes lasting 10 sessions.
The instruments used in this study were a Purpose in Life test, a feeling of Self-Esteem test and a Stress test. The tests were administered before and after the group counseling, and then the average and standard deviation were calculated and the differences between the pre- and post-tests were calculated.
The results of this study were analyzed by two means, one of which was analyzing the results showed by the three psychological tests. The other means was a tape recoding which was analyzed in order to calculate the frequency and percentage of the groups responses.
The conclusions based on the results are as follows;
1. Group counseling based on logotherapy is effective for increasing the purpose in the lives of unmarried females in their twenties.
2. Group counseling based on logotherapy is effective for increasing the feeling of self-esteem of unmarried females in ther twenties.
3. Group counseling based on logotherapy is effective for decreasing the stress of unmarried females in their twenties.
4. Group counseling based on logotherapy for unmarried females in their twenties is effective for positive self-change.
