This study examines the evolution of the spatial structure of Wangjianglou Park in Chengdu from the perspective of the urban historical park. Wangjianglou Park is not treated simply as a mem orial place associated with Xue Tao culture, nor as an ordinary pr esent-day urban park. Instead, it is understood as a layered histor ical landscape in which cultural remains, garden architecture, bam boo scenery, the Jinjiang waterfront, and daily public use have gr adually overlapped. On this basis, the study focuses on how route s, nodes, zones, boundaries, and spatial permeability changed acro ss different periods, and further explains the mechanisms behind t hese changes. The research adopts literature analysis, field investigation, dia grammatic analysis, comparative analysis, and inductive analysis. H istorical documents, previous studies, local records, current spatial observations, and schematic drawings are used together to translat e historical facts into spatial information. Through this process, th e spatial development of Wangjianglou Park is divided into three s tages: the initial stage, the development stage, and the transforma tion stage. The initial stage was centered on Xue Tao Well and r elated memorial remains. Spatial activities were mainly related to commemoration, remembrance, and historical visitation, and the ov erall structure showed a relatively clear commemorative single-cor e pattern. In the development stage, buildings such as Wangjiangl ou, Chongli Pavilion, Yinshi Tower, and Zhuojin Tower were gradu ally incorporated into the spatial organization. The park’s structu re shifted from a single cultural core to a coexistence of multiple architectural nodes, and the basis for garden touring was strength ened. In the transformation stage after 1952, the modern urban p ark system became more stable, and bamboo scenery, waterfront space, entrance space, and public activity areas were integrated i nto the spatial structure. Wangjianglou Park gradually became an urban historical park that combines cultural display with everyday public use. The study finds that the evolution of Wangjianglou Park was not a simple process of area expansion or facility addition. Rathe r, it was the result of the joint adjustment of routes, nodes, funct ional zones, boundaries, and spatial permeability. Its spatial structu re can be summarized as a progressive transformation from a co mmemorative single-core pattern, to an architectural node connect ion pattern, and then to an open network composite pattern. Behi nd this process, five mechanisms are identified: cultural memory a nchoring, architectural node proliferation, route connection reinfor cement, boundary opening transformation, and functional integratio n promotion. These mechanisms do not work separately. Cultural memory establishes the spatial origin, architectural nodes expand t he spatial center, route connections organize the relationships amo ng nodes, boundary opening links the park with the city and wate rfront, and functional integration allows the park to accommodate more diverse public activities. Overall, the evolution of Wangjianglou Park’s spatial structur e can be understood as a process in which a commemorative cult ural core gradually expanded through architectural node growth a nd route organization, and was further transformed through urban openness and functional integration. The study provides a specific analytical framework for understanding the spatial evolution of ur ban historical parks. It also offers a reference for the protection and renewal of Wangjianglou Park, suggesting that future work sh ould not focus only on individual historical buildings or isolated sc enic spots, but should pay attention to the overall structural relati onship among cultural memory, architectural nodes, route systems, waterfront boundaries, and public activity spaces.
