The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of exhibition and convention experience factors on participants' intention to revisit an event and to empirically verify the mediating effect of event satisfaction in this relationship. To achieve this purpose, exhibition and convention experience factors were established as the main independent variables, event satisfaction as the mediating variable, and event revisit intention as the dependent variable for respondents who had previously participated in exhibitions and conventions. The structural relationships among these variables were analyzed. In particular, this study aims to identify how exhibition and convention experience factors influence event revisit intention through event satisfaction and to empirically confirm the mediating role of event satisfaction.
Based on the review of the relevant literature, exhibition and convention experience factors were classified into event quality factors and host destination experience factors. A research model was then developed, incorporating event satisfaction, event revisit intention, and participant type. A questionnaire survey was conducted with individuals who had participated in an exhibition or convention within the previous year. Based on the collected data, frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, reliability analysis, and correlation analysis were performed. Subsequently, multiple regression analysis was conducted to examine the effects of exhibition and convention experience factors on event satisfaction, while simple regression analysis was employed to analyze the effect of event satisfaction on event revisit intention. Furthermore, the mediating effect of event satisfaction was verified using Hayes' (2013) PROCESS Macro (Model 4), and the moderating effect of participant type was examined through hierarchical regression analysis.
The findings of this study empirically identified the structural relationships between exhibition and convention experience factors and participants' event revisit intention and confirmed the mediating role of event satisfaction. Accordingly, this study provides a theoretical foundation for enhancing participants' intention to revisit exhibitions and conventions. In addition, it offers practical implications for establishing strategies to improve participants' event satisfaction in the planning and operation of exhibitions and conventions.
