The tourism industry has evolved from a service-oriented industry to an experience-oriented industry that emphasizes visitors’ emotional responses and memorable experiences. In particular, integrated resorts provide diverse tourism experiences by combining accommodation, shopping, entertainment, performances, and cultural contents within a single destination. As a result, understanding how visitors’ experiential factors influence their behavioral intentions has become an important issue in tourism research. This study aims to examine the effects of experiential factors perceived by visitors to Inspire Entertainment Resort on tourism behavioral intention and to verify the mediating effect of place attachment.
A survey was conducted among visitors who had experience using Inspire Entertainment Resort. A total of 183 valid questionnaires were collected and analyzed. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 29.0 through frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, regression analysis, and mediating regression analysis.
The results revealed that experiential factors were classified into two dimensions: entertainment–esthetic–escapist experience and educational experience. Place attachment and tourism behavioral intention were each identified as a single factor. The findings showed that both entertainment–esthetic–escapist experience and educational experience had significant positive effects on place attachment. However, only entertainment–esthetic–escapist experience had a significant positive effect on tourism behavioral intention, while educational experience did not show a significant effect.
Furthermore, the mediating effect analysis indicated that place attachment partially mediated the relationship between entertainment–esthetic–escapist experience and tourism behavioral intention. This finding suggests that visitors’ memorable experiences, such as entertainment activities, attractive spatial environments, and immersive experiences, contribute to the formation of place attachment, which in turn enhances positive behavioral intentions, including revisit intention and recommendation intention.
Based on these findings, this study suggests that integrated resort operators should strengthen entertainment, esthetic, and escapist experiential elements and develop differentiated spatial and content strategies to foster visitors’ place attachment. The results provide practical implications for enhancing visitors’ positive behavioral intentions and strengthening the competitiveness of integrated resorts.
