Radar sensors are widely used in applications such as drone surveillance, autonomous driving, and unmanned systems because they are robust to illumination and weather variations while providing distance, velocity, and positional information. However, FMCW radar Range-Doppler (RD) images and 3D/4D radar point clouds contain noise, clutter, sparsity, point-density variation, and heterogeneous auxiliary features, making it difficult to satisfy both high accuracy and real-time performance with a single fixed model or processing path. This thesis studies adaptive perception and inference architectures for radar data with multiple representations, where the feature fusion strategy, model scale, and execution path are adjusted according to the input state and representation. For 4D radar point clouds, a sequential soft clustering structure is applied by progressively combining XY coordinates, height information, and Doppler velocity.
For 3D radar point clouds, a density-adaptive PointNet structure is introduced to select different model scales according to the number of input points, and the framework is extended to a DPR-based acceleration concept. For FMCW RD-based drone detection, a View-Selector-based dual-view architecture is employed so that confident samples are processed through a single path while uncertain samples are additionally processed through logistic fusion. Experimental results show that the density-adaptive structure reduces average latency by about 30%, and the selective dual-view structure achieves 92.68% accuracy, 86.69% F1-score, 12.632 ms average execution time, and 79.16 FPS, reducing latency by about 43.2% compared with the Full-View approach. These results indicate that adaptive processing strategies are effective for balancing accuracy, robustness, real-time performance, and resource efficiency in radar-based perception systems.
