제안한 FTC 구조의 유효성을 검증하기 위해 MATLAB/Simulink 기반 시 뮬레이션과 Air bearing 기반 인공위성 플랫폼을 이용한 HILS(Hardware-in-the-Loop Simulation) 실험을 수행하였다.

As interest in space development and the private space industry continues to grow, the importance of satellites has been increasing in various fields, including communication, Earth observation, navigation, meteorological observation, and scientific missions. Accordingly, ensuring the reliability and stable operation of satellite systems has become increasingly important. In particular, since satellites operating in space have limited repair and maintenance capabilities, a fault-tolerant control (FTC) system that enables mission execution even under fault conditions is essential.
This study considers a composite fault scenario in a reaction-wheel-based satellite attitude control system, where actuator faults and gyroscope sensor faults occur simultaneously. To achieve robust attitude tracking performance against disturbances and actuator faults, an adaptive sliding mode controller (ASMC) is designed. In addition, to compensate for angular velocity measurements distorted by gyroscope sensor faults, an Unscented Kalman Filter (UKF)-based state and fault estimator is designed to simultaneously estimate the actual angular velocity and sensor fault components. The proposed FTC structure is configured to maintain stable attitude tracking performance under composite fault conditions by feeding the angular velocity estimated by the UKF into the ASMC.
To verify the effectiveness of the proposed FTC structure, MATLAB/Simulink-based simulations and HILS (Hardware-in-the-Loop Simulation) experiments using an air-bearing-based satellite platform were conducted. The verification results confirmed that the proposed method maintains stable attitude tracking performance under actuator faults, sensor faults, and composite fault conditions.
