With the widespread use of social media, user-generated content (UGC) has become an important factor influencing travel decision-making. Based on the Stimulus–Organism– Response (S–O–R) model, this study examined the effects of tourism-related UGC on travel intention through Trust and Fear of Missing Out (FOMO), while also investigating the moderating role of Social Tie Strength.Data were collected through an online questionnaire survey and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The results showed that UGC Information significantly increased both Trust and FOMO. Trust had a significant positive effect on Travel Intention, whereas the effect of FOMO on Travel Intention was not significant. In addition, Social Tie Strength significantly moderated the relationships between UGC Information and both Trust and FOMO.These findings contribute to a deeper understanding of the cognitive and emotional mechanisms through which tourism-related UGC influences travel intention. The study also extends the UGC literature by incorporating Social Tie Strength as a moderating factor and provides practical implications for tourism destination marketing and social media content strategies.
