다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract) kakao i 다국어 번역

The main purpose of this study is to examine the influence of the Turkish native language on Korean pronunciation.

This study investigates how Turkish native speakers perceive and produce Korean plain (평음), tense (경음), aspirated (격음), and liquid (/ㄹ/) consonants. It focuses on the effect of the following vowel environment and the influence of Turkish vowel harmony and phonological rules. Current pronunciation education mainly focuses on the characteristics of Korean consonants. However, even advanced learners still experience perceptual difficulties because of the phonological habits of their native language. This is the main reason for conducting this study. Since consonants in Turkish tend to change according to front and back vowels, this study proposes that Turkish learners may make cognitive errors when perceiving and producing Korean consonant-vowel combinations.

First, a pilot survey was conducted with six advanced Korean learners (TOPIK Levels 5–6) to identify pronunciation difficulties. Based on the collected data, the main study was carried out. The experiment was conducted with 29 beginner-level Korean learners from the Department of Korean Language and Literature at Erciyes University. The study consisted of three stages. First, a general questionnaire was used to examine the learners' subjective perceptions. Second, a perception (listening) test was conducted. Third, a production (pronunciation) test was carried out.

The thesis consists of five chapters: Introduction, Comparison of the Two Languages, Survey Analysis, Experimental Results, and Conclusion. The empirical findings clearly show the influence of the learners' native language on their perception and production of Korean sounds. Therefore, this study can provide useful guidance for developing Korean pronunciation curricula and teaching materials for Turkish learners in the future.
