AIGC(Artificial Intelligence Generated Content) refers to an intelligent mode of creation grounded primarily in artificial intelligence technologies, including
deep learning, Generative Adversarial Networks, and large scale pretrained models. The rise of AIGC is driving profound changes in animation creation.
Existing studies have largely concentrated on technical demonstrations or analyses of individual stages, while a systematic examination of the entire
animation creation process remains insufficient. The theoretical framework for human and machine collaboration also has yet to be fully developed. In
response to these concerns, this dissertation focuses on the structural changes that have emerged since AIGC entered animation creation as an auxiliary tool.
Its central aim is to examine how AIGC influences creative mechanisms, production processes, and aesthetic order.
This study employs a combined methodology of literature analysis, case analysis, and comparative research. It takes the animation production process as the primary axis of observation and examines how AIGC is utilized at each stage of animation creation. Literature analysis is used to establish key dimensions such as process structure, division of labor, and aesthetic control, and it provides the theoretical foundation for the subsequent argument. Case analysis focuses on animation projects produced between 2022 and 2025 that retain traceable evidence of their production processes. Within this scope, particular attention is given to how AIGC intervenes concretely at each stage of production. Comparative research, by contrasting traditional workflows with AIGC-assisted workflows, investigates the changes manifested in terms of time costs, the density of trial and error, and the stability of shot continuity. On this basis, the study seeks to induce the common principles underlying human-machine collaborative creation and, furthermore, to reveal their impact on both the animation production process and modes of artistic expression.
According to the findings of this study, even after its incorporation into animation creation as an auxiliary tool, AIGC has not altered the ontological attributes of animation as an art of movement and a temporal audiovisual art. Rather, it has reorganized the creative process and the division of labor. In pre production, the focus of the creator's work shifts toward comparison, selection, and iterative adjustment. In production, style transfer, local refinement, and the automated generation of drawings reduce the burden of repetitive labor. In post production, intelligent editing, semantic segmentation, and local repainting have transformed later stage work from a mode centered on manual compositing into a collaborative mode centered on aesthetic judgment. As a result, animation creation is moving away from a traditional linear progression toward a cyclical structure of generation, selection, and reorganization. Human machine collaboration is not a phenomenon in which technology replaces art. Rather, it constitutes a new creative structure in which algorithms expand the means of expression while creators retain primary responsibility for the production of meaning.
This dissertation defines AIGC as an auxiliary tool and emphasizes the central significance of the creator's aesthetic and cultural judgment. What AIGC transforms is the logic of animation production, the organization of process, and the space for creative experimentation, rather than the subjectivity of the creator. AIGC offers clear advantages in terms of improved efficiency, expanded stylistic possibilities, and lowered barriers to entry. At the same time, however, it also faces practical challenges related to quality control and institutional controversy. In this respect, the present study proposes corresponding response strategies and provides an analytical framework for understanding the transformation of animation creation in the age of AIGC.
