Analysis of the Characteristics of Funology Representation Elements in Flagship Store Space ChaeHyun Lee Advisor : Prof. Yoon Gab-geun, Ph.D. Department of Design Graduate School of Chosun University With the rapid growth of digital innovation and online shopping in the modern society, the role of offline space is rapidly shifting from simple product sales to a strategic base that provides brand experience. In this trend, the flagship store is positioning itself as a base for spatially realizing brand identity and worldview, and the characteristics of funology that combine cutting-edge technology and creative play are prominent. However, previous studies have focused on analyzing the experience marketing effect of flagship stores and consumer purchasing behavior, and studies that systematically analyze the elements of funological expression in the space are insufficient. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of funology expression elements that appear in the flagship store space. To this end, through the review of previous studies, five space components of the flagship store (facade, sales space, service space, brand image space, and event space) and three expression elements of funology (sensory perception, interaction, and play itself) were derived and an analysis framework that applied them cross-sectionally was constructed. The case analysis was conducted by selecting a total of eight cases in Korea (Hyundai Motor Studio Seoul, House Dosan, Sulwhasoo Bukchon, Vacheron Constantine Maison 1755 Seoul), and four overseas (Nike House, Glossier Soho, Tiffany & Co, and Louis Vuitton) based on the stores located in premium shopping areas in large cities. As a result of the analysis, first, it was confirmed that sensory recognition and play itself elements appear strongly in facade through unstructured architectural languages and large sculptures, and function as a primary strategic space that converts brand identity into visual play. Second, the sales space was complexed with three elements of funology through unstructured layout and artist collaboration, breaking away from the traditional display method. Third, the service space functioned as a community platform that condenses brand identity through F&B, customization, and artisan demonstration. Fourth, it was confirmed that the boundaries between the two spaces in the brand image ball and event space tended to appear ambiguous across all cases, suggesting that the modern flagship store is evolving in the direction of realizing brand identity in the form of experience and event. Fifth, the three elements of funology were found to be a complex cyclic structure in which sensory perception, interaction, and play itself affected each other and were organically connected rather than acting as a single. This study expects that it is systematically analyzed in the flagship store planning and designation elements in the future brand space planning and designed to contribute to the new perspective of brand space planning and design.
