(Korean version of the Pediatric Balance Scale, K-PBS), BioRescue system, 아동용 기능적 독립성 평가(Functional Independence Measure for Children, WeeFIM), 수정바델지수(Modified Barthel Index, MBI)를 사용하였다.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of whole-body vibration (WBV) on balance and functional independence in school-aged children with cerebral palsy. The intervention was conducted in the physical environment of a special education school (S school).
A total of eleven school-aged children with cerebral palsy were randomly assigned to either the experimental group (n=5) or the control group (n=6). The intervention was conducted for 40 minutes per session, three times per week, for eight weeks (24 sessions). All participants underwent assessments before the intervention and after the final session. Outcome measures included the Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFCS), Korean version of the Pediatric Balance Scale (K-PBS), BioRescue system, Functional Independence Measure for Children (WeeFIM), and the Modified Barthel Index (MBI).
After the intervention, WeeFIM change rates were significant in the experimental group (p 〈 .05), whereas no significant change rates were observed in the control group, resulting in a significant between-group difference in change rates. Both groups showed significant within-group change rates in MBI, K-PBS, and BioRescue system; however, no significant between-group differences in change rates were observed in these outcomes.
Whole-body vibration may be associated with improvements in functional independence in school-aged children with cerebral palsy; however, balance outcomes and MBI improved in both groups, with no significant differences between groups.
