With the advent of global digitalization following the Fourth Industrial Revolution, artificial intelligence (AI) is being introduced into the healthcare industry. Consequently, changes in consumer lifestyles are expected, and understanding the perceptions of consumers pursuing sustainable beauty will be crucial for responding to these changes. Accordingly, we investigated and evaluated the level of AI awareness among Korean adults, the trustworthiness of AI-based direct-to-consumer (DTC) genetic testing, and the consumption value of customized cosmetics. This study involved 853 Korean men and women aged 20 to 60 years or older. The collected data were coded and organized using the SPSS WIN28.0 statistical program and statistically analyzed. The results are as follows. First, awareness of AI was found to have a significant positive (+) effect on trustworthiness of AI-based DTC genetic testing (β=.693, p〈.001). Second, the results of the survey on the trustworthiness of AI-based DTC genetic testing and the consumption value of customized dermatological cosmetics showed a high correlation of - 175 - 0.829 (p〈.001). The reliability of AI-based DTC genetic testing was found to have a significant positive effect on the consumption value of customized cosmetics on functional factors (β=.404, p〈.001), social factors (β=.572, p〈.001), novelty factors (β=.582, p〈.001), and ethical factors (β=.487, p〈.001). Furthermore, awareness of skin improvement using AI recognition technology is increasing, and consumer expectations for customized cosmetics are also rising. Furthermore, three of the 13 hypotheses were rejected and 10 were accepted, successfully identifying various paths. This demonstrates that AI recognition and the reliability of AI-based DTC genetic testing significantly influence consumers' trust in and willingness to purchase customized cosmetics. Therefore, the structural model of this study met the statistical criteria and was confirmed to be suitable for path analysis. Therefore, this paper is expected to serve as useful marketing material for preparing for changes in the future customized cosmetics market by clearly identifying the changing cosmetics industry and the needs of consumers seeking inner beauty in the new beauty industry of the Web 3.0 era.
